I was disappointed in it. I thought it would include more of the cast.

 

I am disappointed in some of the comments I have been reading. Just because he is famous and has money does not mean he cannot also have the same issues we every day people have. People are cold.

 

Yeah that was a swing and a miss.

 

Sophie though was a teenager at the start of the show, so I can see where a lot of that stuff would impact her more.

I have not read any comments about this article but I am pretty sure I am not far off base when I say that many of them are probably quite nasty and hateful. The internet sadly affords us to oftentimes see the ugliness that some feel the need to share over and over again.

I have not watched this series so I am clueless about the work involved though I can deduce that it is extensive in all aspects of production. I think it is quite understandable why he saw a need to take some time to care for himself.

Personally I have taken advantage of counseling/therapy on occasion. I recommend it for everyone. It is cleansing. It offers a safe space to vent, rant, cry, question, share, explore, etc. Good on Mr. Harrington for realizing he had a need. He will be all the better for his time spent.

I wonder what he thinks about the negative reaction his TV “ending” elicited from viewers? Oh, and I know how many children Scarlett O’Hara had because I read the book and it was different from the movie. That was a interesting statement for him to make.

 

Even if the end result is the same, and that's a big if, the journey to that point would be much different with Martin. D&D's ending was like a parody on SNL. The show went from being seen as one of the best in the history of TV, to an internet joke in the course of the last 4 episodes. I wouldn't even want to watch my favorite episodes anymore. Everytime I'd see Tyrion, I'd remember that in the end they turned him into a pathetic fool and that Dany went from the breaker of chains to Hitler in the next to last episode. And the same goes for many of the other characters.

Martin has been unhappy with D&D for years now. Most of his jabs have been passive aggressive because he has a good relationship with HBO, so who knows what he told them, and what his intent was at the time. We'll just have to wait for the books.

 

Martin mentioned in his blog that if he didn't have Winds of Winter in hand for next summer's Sci Fi convention in New Zealand that they had permission to "lock him up" until he finished it. I think there's a chance we could see the book released this December.

 

People getting all angry with HBO, but HBO has nothing to do with it, from what I remember HBO wanted 10 full seasons, while GRRM wanted more, but D & D wanted to cut out earlier because of the Star Wars contract.

It would be fantastic if we get WOW by Christmas. I just hope we do not have to wait 10 more years for the release of A dream of Spring.
