After many aggravating, annoying and disappointing games I have finally achieved gold cammo for the Model 1887.

Getting it to the Damage proficiency was absolutely hell. Ive shot people dead on, right in the head and got nothing but hit markers. Damage gave it the boost it really needed, but occasionally I still got that WTF death after pumping a round into a guy.

Now I only have the Spas12 and KSG-12 to rank up. I tried them both for a little, and I'm really not liking it. I need some help with these two. I honestly think they should be a secondary. I remember a while back there was a guy I played a game with who ran the SPAS12 silencer and played a game 18-1. I have NO idea how thats even possible. Even when I feel like i'm in range of the weapon, Its not a one shot kill. Help please?

Steady Aim, Focus (Range and later on Damage if you unlock them, still the best proficiencies) proficiency ASAP to stay on your target when you get shot at. Kick isn't that useful since you're not going to ADS a lot. Marathon for larger maps, SoH for maps like Mission and Dome. Quickdraw is most likely your best option in Tier 2. I'd run UAV/AUAV so you know when to hide behind a corner if someone's coming. Might be a bit boring, but I think it's faster than running around and getting hitmarkers all over the place. To give you a bit of motivation: the 1887 was definately the worst shotgun in the game.

For both (i have all the shotguns gold if that means anything) Pick steady aim and Assassin for tiers 2 and 3 perks and your 1st tier is up to you. Stay on CQ maps (Dome, seatown, bootleg,Mission, arkaden and lockdown are all good maps for shotguns). Grinding to range and damage WILL be painful, no way around that.

Nothing is worse than the AA-12.

I beg to differ. I can do much better with the AA-12 than then SPAS-12 or KSG-12.

    Must be different playstyles then.

The AA-12 has been my worst shotgun in both MW2 and MW3. I HAVE to run Scavenger with it, or I'm out of ammo after around two or three kills. The terrible range and average damage is just a turnoff when I can go around with the SPAS, USAS, or KSG and get long range OHKs.

Really? Im impressed then because the AA-12 is imo the worst of all of them, even with range and ext mags.

    Still to each his own.

    AA-12 with Extended Mags
    SoH
    Hardline
    Steady Aim
    Specialist:
Scavenger (earn at first kill, so already after one kill I have both SoH and Scavenger).

Always aim for the body and duck to the side after each shot.

I got the KSG gold in one of my prestiges and it was sort off annoying to get all the way in the end. It doesnt matter what proficiency you use but i used focus or kick becuase aiming down your sights controls your shot rather then firing from the hip. Still use steady aim because sometimes you cant ADS fast enough or you are surprised. I would use Soh and Assassin or Hardline. If you get a hit marker then dropshot or hide behing something but once you get to damage then this gun really rapes. I dont know about the SPAS but maybe it could be like the KSG???

Just decided to start leveling the 1887 on PC myself. Earlier today and on the first game with it. Ended up with only nine kills after an endless stream of hitmarkers...

That's the problem with the Model, and indeed of pump-action shotguns in general in MW3. They're WAY too inconsistent with their OHK's and hitmarkers, and the whole point of a pump-action shotgun is to have a higher chance of getting a OHK. That's why the Striker and USAS are really the only viable options for shotguns in MW3.

I disagree, the Spas12 is reliable for me. i get OHK 99% of the time when im in range.
I have a tip for the Model though, dont do it to yourself!!!

I love the SPAS12, my setup:

    Foregrip

    Perk 1 - Extreme Conditioning
    Perk 2 - Quickdraw
    Perk 3 - Stalker

The reason why I use Quickdraw over Steady Aim in this case is because the bullet spread on the SPAS 12 is the smallest of all Shotguns so its actually better to aim spot on with it.

Erm you know that ADSing in MW3 for shotguns doesnt tighten the spread right? As for being the tightest, it looks the same as the KSG to me but whatevers to each his own

Agree on the spread but thats not my purpose. In fact, I don't want a tighter spread, its tight enough for me. And while it may look like the KSG and SPAS has the same spread, I can guarantee you its not. KSG and USAS has the best spread of all shotguns.
