    That's it.

I don't care much for American oaters. Spaghetti westerns, though? Love em.

Don't forget that QT's next film is an oater, too.

I'm sure Django Unchained will be a fun ride, but it's hard for me to consider it a "true" western, ya know? Maybe that opinion will change after seeing it, but the trailers make it seem a bit too self-aware and "tarantino" to be a real western. Should be great either way, but I don't see it making my list of favorite westerns.

IMO, the best westerns are the ones that don't know they're westerns and treat it like a real story, just in a different time. James Mangold mentions that on the 3:10 to Yuma commentary, which is a GREAT listen if you ever have the time.

I doubt it'll make my list, too. Still, it's QT. I'm sure it'll be good.

I love THE MAN WITH NO NAME trilogy. I love almost all of Clint's westerns. THE PALE RIDER was horrid, though. And I agree with you that the TRUE GRIT remake was great. I can't stand John Wayne. His westerns or garbadge. And I also liked the 3:10 TO YUMA remake. THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES is another great western.

I like PALE RIDER. The novelization is pretty good, too.

It's tough to go wrong with Clint...

I just can't get into PALE RIDER. Clint does a good job in it, but the story just doesn't suck me in. HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER on the other hand sucks me in every time. This is kind of becoming a western thread.

Another good Eastwood western is THE UNFORGIVEN.

UNFORGIVEN is definitely a good oater. I love the ending confrontation between Eastwood and Hackman.

So do I. And I like Hackman in westerns. I liked him in QUICK AND THE DEAD eventhough I thought the move was just ok. He plays villains well.

I concur. I was honestly surprised by that film.

The Quick and The Dead was a little too flashy for my taste. It had too much "Raimi". It certainly wasn't bad, but at certain points I felt more like I was watching a cross between Evil Dead and a western rather than an honest western.

Yeah, it was a little comic bookish. I still watch it sometimes, but it definitely isn't one of my favorites. There's no doubt that Hackman was great in it, though.

Last night, I revisited CUTTHROATS NINE. Moves slow, but I really like the ending.

Yeah, it was a good episode. It's a sort of "return" for Bohanon.
