Hershel delivered another top notch performance which officially puts him on high alert! Two weeks ago, I thought they were setting Hershel up for his demise with that excellent speech he gave to Rick and Maggie. After this week, Hershel should be officially on death watch.

i really don't want to see Hershel die but part of what makes TWD gripping is that nobody but rick and Carl are safe. It's suffering this season due to only killing red shirts, they need to bump off somebody that matters.

    RIP Hershel.

I kind of agree, but if Hershel dies mid-season (it's pretty much a lock), the development he had these past episodes will make it have an even bigger impact. I think that's what they are going to do this season. Just when you think a main cast member is never going to get it, they will. It's been hinted on by Gimple and the producers.

I totally agree. I'll start making my RIP HERSHEL Tshirts now, very reasonably priced at $49:99 plus VAT.

I know that's how the things work in TWD but when it happens to your favorites, it's no fun. I rather have them spare Maggie or Glenn or any other character I really don't care about than kill off awesome characters like Hershel. I kinda see that the death of Hershel will be a huge deal in this season after the development he had so far.

i carefully avoid spoilers but I just think it's obvious. He's lovely, well liked, old, wise, he's getting a lot of screen time....he is therefore not long for this world.

I know, I've been very nervous about him, I hope he doesn't die, I like him in the group, I think he adds a lot, he will be missed. But people said he would die last week and he didn't, so maybe there is some hope. They need to keep at least one old person in the group, their wisdom is always something that can be accessed.

Judging by your username you know how futile that will be. :)

I haven't been shy about saying I don't like Hershel, but give super high marks to Scott Wilson for his acting in this episode. I thought his subtle but clear upset when Rick told him about Carol was particularly well-acted. It was also nice to see a character act as "one tough sombitch", as Darryl puts it -- or as I would put it, go for it all out -- without any whining or complaining. That was some true leadership. I also liked his subtle reminder to Rick that Rick has had the luxury of a vacation from the ZA and that it is time to rejoin the (not-so-pleasant) reality of the world they live in.

Out of appreciation for Wilson's talent, I've taken Hershel off of my personal TWD "hit list" -- at least temporarily.

    "Internment" was definitely Hershel's episode!
What an actor! Scott Wilson acted perfectly.

In season 2, I just couldn't stand him... Actually I thought he would die in "Beside the Dying Fire" :/
Only fools never change their minds, huh? ^^

    I don't think he'll make it after the mid-season finale, that's sad...

I honestly thought we was going to lose Hershel on this episode. The whole thing had me on the edge of my seat! I hope he makes it through this season.

I would find it much more gripping if Carl wasn't safe either. :p

But at least Hershel is safe for tonite and next week. ;)

He was suppose to die in Beside the Dying Fire, but when actor Jeff DeMunn quit, they decided to continue the Hershel character to take the place of Dale. So your fear was astute. ;)
    Sadly,

Oh well I had a good guess! ^^ Thank you! :)

Hopefully he won't have Dale's in the comics.

So was it Jeff DeMunn's decision to leave? I was sad to see Dale go, though it did seem inevitable. (DeMunn is a great actor, imo.)

    As for the spoiler....NOOOOOOOOO!!!
