So, they are running low on gas.....and everyone has horses now. Even Daryl mentions that they have horded all the gas for miles and miles.

Then why is Daryl still on his bike?

Because Daryl is cool and he gets good gas mileage. Also, how are they feeding all those horses? And do they have a barn or some shelter to keep them in?

They are making a fuel out of corn, sufficient to run a motorcycle. The Sanctuary already had motorcycles, too. Maggie was saying she would trade food for ALL of their fuel, which was what sounded Governor-y to me.

Hilltop has the resources to grow corn and make its own fuel.

Isn't Daryl reading a book on Motorcycle Conversion? I got the impression they are making the Motorcycles compatible with whatever fuel they are able to produce.

Yes, I think they are converting the motorcycles to biofuel. At first I thought they were 'converting' to electric, but I think Eugene was making biofuel.

I thought that was the purpose of introducing Ken who was bitten by the walker. Didn't they mention he took care of the horses etc at the Hilltop?
I thought that was the purpose of his and his family backstory to give him importance due to the depleted resources while also showing the new dynamic of the communities and leaders namely Rick and Maggie.

I would think that they’d have to keep and maintain horses at all their sites in order to get around, especially considering how long it took to get from Alexandria to Hilltop back in Season 6 and that was with gas-powered vehicles.

Some character should name a horse Easy Street so they can troll Daryl and sing about being on Easy Street.

Maybe even set up a little outpost in between communities where horses can be switched out, a la the Pony Express. They mentioned having to stop on this trip because the horses needed to rest.

And we all know the best way to travel in an area crawling with walker herds is a noisy-ass motorcycle.

During WW1 and WW2 the refugees learned to get around on Steam Powered bikes in Europe,it is pretty interesting.

The put little boilers on the bikes and then could use almost anything that burns as fuel.

They could easily adapt this here I wold imagine too, easier than making Ethenol?

They could also make and use Bio Diesel if any oil was left?

    Why is my text goofy?????

Re the text, you must have bumped the B for Bold and the I for Italics in the upper left-hand corner. They toggle on and off. So, to fix it, you would highlight the goofy part and hit whichever button to make the bolding or italics go away. :D

Your steam-powered bikes idea is great. I never heard of that. Let's hope Eugene is familiar with them. :)

The horses have to eat and it was definitely noted the Hilltop was thriving the most of all the communities.

Also remember they were taking the wagon back to the Hilltop and Ken's mother said they don't even have that now (nothing to show for his death).

That's Portland Protective Association under some guy named Arminger at this point. More than likely confiscated all firearms in the surrounding area and turned it into his own little fiefdom!!

Dies The Fire/S.M. Stirling reference. The wagon being taken out of the museum definitely reminded me of a scene from that book!!
