I honestly find it to be a refreshing change of pace.

 

Everybody was happy when Negan was cut by Rick....

Then everybody was sad when Rick called for the doctor to save him.

 

Honestly I thought what they did was perfect. Any major deaths would have taken away from what they were going for with Carl and the still-raw grief of Glenn. It was nice to see the saviors completely beaten at last and not able to kill any more.

 

I am torn.

The decision to not kill anyone worked creatively for the finale and was the smart move after all, but the long term sustainability of the show really requires that they thin the cast and return to focusing on a moderately sized core cast. TWD spends too much time sometimes tripping over sub-par sublots and supporting characters.. Hopefully we lose a couple of characters after the time skip and get a soft reboot.

One of the strengths of Fear is that it's always kept the cast size manageable in my humble opinion...

 

I was relieved. Left the season on an optimistic note. I wouldn't have been too unhappy though if Rick had let Negan bleed out.

Negan should have died. Sure, it was nice to see him subdued but he is too dangerous to keep around. Kill him and move on.

 

I'm not so thrilled about it. I REALLY wanted Big Tara to die.

 

Maybe next finale it will be Negan clubbing Maggie's brains out and saving Rick.

 

My mouth hit the floor when Rick slashed Negan's throat, I really thought that was the end of Negan.

 

i just can't understand how they can afford to pay this big of a recurring cast. with ratings trending down, you would figure that they would be getting rid of a few characters to keep costs down a bit. bad choices.

 

When Rick cut him, I was (happily) shocked!! I thought, "Yes! Rick has killed Negan!! In my house (my family and my brother's family who had come over to watch with us) there were loud gasps and cheers when Rick slashed him - shock, surprise and glee. Then pure deflation and disgust when Rick said, "save him".

So disappointed in you Rick Grimes.

I was a little disappointed. They had a number of minor characters to kill off (Oscar, Bertie, etc) even a bunch on the Savior side that could have gone like DJ, Norris, and Regina, but no one really died except the Savior extras. Interesting. Not what I was expecting but okay. Finale has a disappointing tone for me but it’s okay I’m ready for Season 9 and something fresh.
