Don't get me started on the unfolding environmental disaster that is the American Southwest.

Las Vegas and Phoenix; neither of those cities should be remotely close to supporting the populations they hold, yet they do because we said so. Phoenix is a microcosm of everything rotten about the US in my opinion. From the lawns and golf courses, down to its planning, or lack-thereof. It's one massive strip mall in the middle of the desert. I will never go back there if I can help it in any way.

Arizona's a great state when it's not trying to be something it can't physically be, though.

 

De-Salination plants hold the key to drinking water. The war in the future will be for farming land.

 

Dubai is hell on Earth. It's basically a wealth display for all the rich oil Emirs. I swear once the Middle East reaches peak oil, Dubai will collapse almost immediately. The infrastructure will decay and will be covered by sand.

One of the most striking feats of water over-usage was the draining of Owen's Valley for L.A. drinking water. Owen's Valley used to be one of the most fertile areas in the Californian South, but after it was drained for use by the population of Los Angeles, it was turned into a desert. I dont care at all. We even have a free recycle program and the can just stays empty one time i put a bunch of used oil in it and put it out on the curb just because i was pissed i have this stupid recycle can. I honestly don't want the earth to survive because we all kinda suck.

I'm one of those assholes that thinks none of the consequences will affect me in my lifetime, so I don't really care.

 

I would love to see the countries of the world unite and as one eradicate war, famine, corruption, human trafficking, crime and prostitution (wait let's not be hasty! ).

Unfortunately, nothing can change human nature and there will ALWAYS be people who are greedy, fearful and corrupt who will do what they can to further themselves without caring about the consequences to others. As a result the human race will never fulfil it's potential until we are faced with extinction by which time it will be too late.

There will, almost undoubtedly, be another world war. It probably won't happen for decades or possibly even centuries but it will happen. As long as we are divided as a species, we breed fear and animosity which lead to hatred and violence. And it's not just our borders that divide us but our beliefs as well.

So to answer the op, I am very aware of the damage we inflict on our planet and I'd love for us to take better care of it but at the same time I think it's futile. To quote Agent Smith from The Matrix, "Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, a plague". The only hope for the planet is that we destroy ourselves before we destroy it!
