Its not an excuse. He is not required to answer questions. It can help his agenda. It can help morale but rump thought the presidency was a stand up gig. Its not. The presidents job isn’t to address the press. Its to make policy. I believe every president has has a press secretary of some sort to address the press on a more regular basis than the president. rump babbled daily but didn’t actually answer any questions he didn’t like. Kind of defeats the purpose. He treated press briefings as campaign rallies.

Just remember that belief when the next Republican president gets elected and they don't talk to the press. Somehow I think you'll be complaining about the lack of transparency in their administration and not saying their job is to make policy and not to talk to the press, but I won't get my answer to that until 2024.

 

That has been my belief for decades. There are positions that require updates. Its not always the Presidents job to give those updates. He has a press secretary and cabinet members for that. Hugging flags circling nonexistent storm paths isn’t in the job description. For some reason you think lying and babbling make a better press conference. I disagree.

I understand what you're saying, but when the president is asking for Trillions - Trillions - of dollars for something, he should be out there saying why and answering questions from the public on the same, not hiding down in his basement in Delaware.
