I never seen this episode. Somehow I missed it, I think I was in Texas for work or something...I was doing something. So....

    Good episode?

"Vatos" is mostly a weak episode; the highlights are Darryl frightening the gang banger, and the walkers attacking the camp.

And the Grandma. She's the sweetest little thing ever.

I'd have to agree that it was a relatively weak episode. Here's to hoping you get to watch it sometime!

To be very honest, I have been a fan of the comics for a few years and haven't even watched the entirety of Season One. And I am also one of those people that don't watch a series (or part) unless they are on television.

It's the weakest episode of the first season, imo. Still worth a watch, though. If only to see the group return to the streets of Atlanta.

I love the grandma!!! She provided yet a little more humanity on the show along with the people who were diligently taking care of the elderly.

On the other hand, what do you think would happen had these old people started dying off and the others had no clue that they'd re-animate? Could be a whole other interesting storyline if not a show altogether......LOL

In a deleted scene for Season 2 episode 1, Rick and the group were going to return to the nursery home to inform the Vatos there about what Jenner said but the Vatos were already overrun. They decided to scrap that scene to keep the secrecy of the revelation until the finale which is why I don't know why it's such a big thing. That's how the first zombies came back to life in the first place and I've seen this before in the Romero movies.

I hadn't heard about that deleted scene. That's interesting.

Plus, they were making the dumb decision to lure Rick into starting a fire fight when they really should be alive taking care of the old folks. Gang members always get themselves killed for dumb situations. And I agree, I don't put him with gang activity and behavior myself.

Yeah, I also have to agree that Vatos is the weakest episode of season 1. But still, I love Amy's death so...

I hate this episode up until the end at the camp. The Atlanta scenes are so boring to me.

Treehouses like that seem pretty hard to build!

I agree with, Ewan. Unless you have construction experience it would be hard to build an elaborate treehouse. And don't forget you would have to find, collect and haul all the material to the build site while fighting Z's.

Plus, zombies still could eventually break some of it down. And you'd be trapped up there with hardly any resources if you were surrounded.

Going against the crowd here, but I loved this episode. Until the last 2 episodes on S2, this was my favorite episode.

It has some boring parts with all that kidnapping thing and negotiations with them, but it is not a bad episode. The last scenes of the episode are great, except for group losses.
