I knew eventually the show would address the fact that currency is worthless in a zombie apocalypse. So I wondered why Daryl bothered salvaging the pile of dollar bills. It seems that the only value of money is to start fires with. Now, will there be a similar worthlessness of gold and silver?

I think Daryl was sliding back into his "outlaw" personality; the attitude he showed Beth proves it.

Daryl burned the cabin because he realized he's not the bad guy that he, or other people, expect him to be.

Gotta keep the silver in case you meet werewolves.

    That's what I thought.

But outlaw or not in a world that went to shit I would still wear some sick chains lol.

Nice question. I highly doubt you'd find many people who'll accept gold or silver as super valuable material/items. Right now the valuables are items such as water, food, ammo, salt, medication, and a few others... pretty much everything that sustains life.

Money is not worthless, you can still start fires with it, as was proven in this episode.

You can also wipe you a$$ with it...

Due to the stress of the situation Daryl got distracted and violated rule #39.

    39. Don't attach value to anything that isn't going to help keep you alive.

After he relaxed a bit he realised his mistake which is shown when he used $10,000 to start the fire.

Silver can also be used as a conductor... assuming you can find electricity, of course.
