What you mean there is no medical proof that zombies exist.....

    I did say:
"Oh i didn't realize there was a debate. I thought it was just accepted that in the TWD show it lasted forever and people are willing to live with that because running around with out vehicles would make things a little slow."

The whole gas thing in TWD is very minor.
The whole gas thing is pretty major if we think they are just gonna float around forever island hopping on this yacht.

    Yeah,maybe.

I bet it will not be an issue until right up to the minute that it is written as an issue!

It does not matter who is on that boat....Glenn, Maggie, Carol... It don't matter. The decision is made by basic physics and supplies. Strand is not thinking long term, he it just taking is one hour at a time..

The real threat is teenage judgement and emotional decisions and empathy during a catastrophic situation when all bets are off...and not knowing when the rules have changed. Your fellow man could be your worst enemy, with very limited resources..

Notice your sentence says "recommends maximum of one year" in the tank.

That's what it recommends. So as to be optimal and reduce risk of engine damage. In a ZA, 1 to 3 years is easily attainable.

I think about things like that in shady scenario's in the real world. You can't trust people that you know nothing about, when you add in anarchy it gets even crazier. When you add in walking cannibal corpses and the military blowing the city sky high... well you get the idea.

They were on land and all met each other while trapped in traffic. All were people coming out of Middle Class suburbs, all able to relate to one another... etc... that in itself is a system of being able to vet who you are dealing with and feel them out, however spontaneous and quick. And how much value really is an old RV, or some ordinary cars in that scenario when everyone had a vehicle?

That's a rarer situation than running into people trying to take advantage of you. It's quite rare to run into a group of "good people", rather than the contrary. Rick's group as we have seen in TWD in itself is a rarity in that it evolved into hardened survivors that are not totally evil maniacs. Most "good people" as we would describe them are long dead in TWD.

Having a luxury ride with a lot of fuel and some food is desirable and automatic target. You'd be completely blind to not be at the very least skeptical of anyone's intentions you come across in that setting.

If you haven't seen my thread "Strand is a great addition", check it out. I talk about how someone like him and Salazar have seen the reality of humanity due to not being in an ordinary shielded lifestyle, like the middle class Walking Dead people initially were. High Business/Politics is psychological war and every person trying to take advantage of one another and it gets nasty, that's why Strand is mentally prepared for the human condition in this setting and Salazar having experienced war and revolution in Central America has seen it all.

Or if we are privy to the reality of human nature when things go to hell. It gets nasty. The real world is loaded with proof of this every single day... there is something on the news every day at any given time in the world and any given place of people being atrocious to one another in times of hardship.

We live in a Western liberal culture, so unless we're involved in shady stuff, we don't see this to it's fullest extent. We have a cushy life - even if the lower economic spectrum in a Western liberal culture has a cushy life compared to seriously ****ed up places.

Every time that rug is pulled out from underneath in a natural disaster or otherwise - mayhem immediately occurs because the illusion is lifted and animal instinct to the varying degree's of intelligence in humans(dumb people being the most hazardous)takes over.

We don't need a TV show about meltdown and zombie's to know that and know to protect ourselves.

He might be FTWD's Gareth from Terminus

    They might be FTWD's Saviors.

    100%.

Time frame is totally irrelevant, law and order is gone and the animals and crazies are let loose.

They may over time need more people, but that will be addressed when the time comes. For now, their modus operandi is to escape from where they were to somewhere safer and to do so stealth like and avoid getting themselves killed.

    Strand = Smart.

    @Ionut @Wrecker

Wrecker has a point. Strand was right to pass that boat of two dozen by.

But his current crew consists of Madison, Daniel, Nick and Travis. Ofelia is still badly hurt and the teens can hardly be counted. How can you keep a boat like that up and running with only 5 people?

They will need more people. And they will need them soon.

Sure, the thought of taking on people only to be betrayed by them is horrible and food is not free. But it's a lot harder to overpower a crew of 14 people.

What they need is a smaller additional group of skillful and trustful people - but def. not that refugees boat they just saw containing 20 people in there!

That is NOT that type of boat they want to pick up.

Maximum a group of 6-7 additional people which they can pick up. But to be honest: They can always pick more people up later, there will always be some.

This is the beginning of Apocalypse so there are tons of living people out there. This is not Season 6 TWD here we are talking about (even there we have a HUGE group like Negan for example).

No, it's not hard to recruit people but it is VERY hard to recruit the RIGHT people.

It has been said multiple times during the first season. Even when it was called "cobalt"

Maybe its just because of TWD series but it seems to me that getting people in your group early on is key. In TWD we now see groups generally feel tied together and will do what ever it takes to keep that group going. (Us vs Them). Ricks group does not treat the people they have joined up with as equals. They are lesser for not being with the group since the start.

A city of 4 million has just had a zombie out break for a couple of weeks and now has been fired bombed. Those people on that over crowed boat are survivors. They have done probably more then our main group has done to survive. The main difference is probably not running into some rich guy with a yacht to take them in....

Strand would probably be better off with those survivors then the ones he has. Most are just along for the ride and the girl on the radio is a huge problem.

I see the whole Jack thing turning into a good thing. Being "pirates" just seems too soon and what we expect due to the whole Negan, Terminus experiences we have seen 2 years in the future.

No reason to pick up people who overloaded the boat and went into open sea with no food and water, because it was a stupid thing to do, and nobody needs stupid people in their team. There will be many more chances to pick up better people, with some brains, those who will survive this initial hell

First step is being realistic, not emotional.

There is no chance to feed those 20 people unless they have the biggest fishing competition. And there is no way we can trust that big amount of people.

If we already have problem to deal with those 6 people Strand picked up here (with stupid teenager, mom who doesn't use her brain), how the hell can we deal with 20 people who can riot anytime and overthrow the owner of the boat by just outnumber?

If I were the owner to that yacht, there is NO way I would accept that many people at the same time. No wonder why there is saying that goes:

"You can trust a dog more than a human being."

Its not the stupid thing to do. Its better to be floating in the sea then to be burnt on the land.
Stand has no food, guns, or plan. He has a boat with a RO machine.

We assume that the crowed boat people are weak due to them asking for help. Every one in the strand boat needed someone else's help (especially Strand himself).

My point is most of the people on Stand's boat are just lucky they ran into him.
Strand is lucky he just so happened to have a fancy yatch. It not like strand is really prepared for this ZA.

Strand is starting to lose it. He has made it to his boat, so now he has water to drink and a place to stay away from walkers.
In his mind people are the next biggest treat but he is headed to the SD base even though he just escaped from one base and a city that the military just blew up.

So only stop to pick up people who have something to offer you up front?
Carol, the preacher, eugene had nothing to offer TWD group up front.

They can't feed themselves right now really but they are a day away from their destination. 30 people are not going to sink that big yacht.

What part of small contained space, limited supplies and strong uncertainty about the immediate future don't you understand?

You're the person we'd have to keep a close eye on in the ZA. Their destination is uncertain. They don't even know what's waiting for them or if they'll be able to get to food easily. Its not about the weight of the people sinking it, lol, but its a really horrible idea to take on a group of unknowns who outnumber your own group by 3 to 1, into a confined space with limited resources. We're going to find out in the next couple episodes how irresponsible Alicia was for even allowing another group to know their location, much less willingly let them aboard.

They have basically what they can catch to eat and are at the mercy of the yacht staying operational for clean, potable water. They don't know how long that will be or what awaits them in San Diego. Strand is in no position to take on unknown people who can do God knows what onboard the yacht. He had to establish his rule of law with the few people he had. Adding that many more people would have gotten all of them killed.

Nevermind Alicia and her idiocy... and that was only one person.

    I understand that.
But I also understand the importance of a group.
TWD 2 years in anyone solo is pretty much dead.

    My prediction is Jack =

Strand has already realized the importance of a group.
What people are suggesting is that they pick and choose an all star team of survivors. 30 Ricks and 0 Carols. Teams/groups need more then just the alphas to work well.

That over loaded boat could end up merging with other boats and creating a "water world" type barge.
Those people are survivors who probably had to over come more than the group we are seeing on the yacht.

The yacht people have spent the ZA so far with a silver spoon in there mouth. Lived in a protected zone or where locked up in a protected zone.
