I don't know him, but I think the books are probably great, and people should talk about them here. :) :)

Yeah, he seemed like a nice gentle giant. Was also a tad sad he died so suddenly.

I didn't quite like the character. Thought the "Babydoll" and such as over the top. I pictured him as a creepy version of Tyreese lol.

I knew he was going to die at some point, since he never shows up in the comics, just wasn't sure when. I thought we were going to lose him during the attack on the glass mansion, but we lost him a few pages later instead.

I'm just now seeing this thread. I think "babydoll" in this case was used in an endearing way, not a degrading way like some guys use names like that. I liked him too...

I think Josh Hamilton is a great hitter, But his production really slumped in 2013..... I'll be rooting for him to bounce back in 2014.

You know, Josh Lee Hamilton was the only character able to confirm the time period of the entire TWD universe. Not to mention the only character in TWD who is given an exact birth and death date.(1/15/1969 - 11/11/2012)

At the point of Josh's death I believe it had been the better part of 2 years since the initial outbreak. Josh died on November 11th, 2012; which would mean the the apocalypse began somewhere around 2010.

That would coincide with the premier of the tv series October 31, 2010.

Someone resurrected this thread exactly one year to the day since its last post. :p.

And yeah, I remember noticing that too, but I think the Woodbury novels are unreliable for setting the chronology. I can't remember which novel it is, but in one of the books it claims to be 2 years since the outbreak, and then 50 pages later it claims that it is only one year since the outbreak. And in the comics, it is less than 8 months since the outbreak at the time Josh would be alive. I consider the chronology in the Woodbury novels to be non-canon, as I think it is set not by Kirkman, but rather by Jay Bonansinga, and without much thought, at that.

Yeah, this is true. Bonansinga was given a lot of rope, a lot of creative control in writing the books and deciding what the finished products would be. Although Kirkman was certainly involved, it's never really made clear where Kirkman's role on the book begins, and when Bonansinga's ends. It seems to me as if Kirkman was a part of the framework of the novels, but ultimately left it entirely to Bonansinga's (sometimes far too descriptive) talents, and his(not always better ) better judgments; when it came to putting the novels into prose, and writing the actual script that would adorn the pages.
