The only theory that even kinda-sorta makes a little sense at first is that Carl was bit by a Whisperer and subsequently killed them, and still is under the impression a normal walker bit him thus the showing of the bite in the belief he's dying. Seems like a cool way to introduce the Whisperers, yeah? Do a little rewind to the scene where he is bitten, show the big reveal?

No. 'cause then you realize that a Whisperer would have absolutely no reason to ~bite~ a living, breathing, armed human being unless they wished to die and wanted to creatively commit suicide.

Of course I'd love to believe Carl is still alive, especially since his death is going to kill the show. Of course, I can't though. Because, logic, but also because this would be even worse than dumpster-gate (which would also, obviously kill the show).

They can't write their way out of this one. Either way, they've really f*cked things up. This one isn't salvageable.
