Evident Fire Gaming http://www.evidentfire.com held a Friday "run & gun" event where we got as many people involved with the UnExPeCTeD Clan on as possible at the same time to put on a show of force. The primary operation was centered in grid I-9 in the heart of a rival clan's territory (unimaginatively known to the server as the "I-9 Clan"). When we arrived onsite we had more than 40 people in our force facing an estimated 10 - 20 hostiles. Not all were I-9 Clan, we spotted some IEX Clan and had to kill them as well. For a little over 2 hours and change we breached the largest base we could find there and held it till the time for the event ran out. Despite trying to convince the powers-that-be to extend the event (we had over 4,000 explosives ready to go at the forward operating posts) and exploit the breach of the base we had full control of, many of the eastern time zone ringleaders were already awake past their bedtimes apparently. Which argues against starting an event at 10pm Eastern time in the first place cough cough... but I digress.

Fairly straightforward situation. We noted a specific base the previous night that some of the people who live in the area seemed to use to gear up when they died. Naturally this became a desirable target for a breaching operation. Finding the base occupied we initiated suppression fire (.308's, explosive arrows, molotovs) to keep the defenders' heads down while explosives planters did their work at the airlock gates. Once their exterior defenses were broken the assault team entered the structure to clear it in close quarters combat. With the small garrison inside liquidated the explosive exploitation of the base proceeded apace and doors knocked down sequentially. We decided to melt the guns down into metal bars rather than transport them as 1500 bulk items. We were ordered to hold the base long enough for all the on-site melting and transport of loot to a temporary loot shack. Once we'd emptied the base of what we wanted, we evacuated the site to one of the temporary staging areas used for loot distribution and prep for another raid on a different clan's base.

A quick run through my Ranchito Taquito megabase from the wipe that ended November 25, 2015. This was originally intended to be a racetrack for ATVs but that never came to fruition. It wound up as a concentric defenses fortress. With ground tampers acting as the curtain walls stretching from the north shore to the south shore of Dragon Lake southeast of Ranchito Taquito. There were interior ground tampers set aside for farming as well. The central "keep" was a massive complex of interlocked deck foundations that had its entrances underneath the base and open to the sky to create a "murder box" effect. Had any raid force gotten that far in with anyone inside defending the base; planting explosives would be a daunting task being shot at from above. Sadly, this mega-base's defenses were never tested in a raid. No clan on the Antidote server was able to project the necessary power in the form of manpower and several thousand IEDs/Biofuel/Ethanol into UnExPeCTeD Clan's core territory in Ranchito Taquito to even make such a thing possible. Many thanks to all those who contributed to implementing this build. It is my favorite of all the bases I've had a hand in making in H1Z1.

This is video documentation of a raid that occured on The Stronghold whitelist server the night of December 7th/8th, 2015. The raid was on 6 or 7 (honestly I lost count) bases belonging to the LOST Clan. The raid force was approximately 25 members of the UnExPeCTeD Clan. I edited the over 4 hour raid down to just under an hour for some semblance of brevity. This is not some flashy highlight reel so don't expect constant heavy combat. I think I only killed 2 LOST guys the entire time and never got killed personally. Mostly me hanging back and acting more as a "war correspondent" than having a major role in the operation.

The UnExPeCTeD clan continued its rampage across The Stronghold server and wiped out a base cluster of 4 bases (1 of which was a megabase) and a shack perimeter around a camp site. This was an FU clan base cluster as far as I know. It took a while before resistance was encountered but about 5 minutes or so into this video you'll see 2 carloads of G4 clan stumbled onto the raid area. After turning them back twice we were later ambushed by a smaller force of what we refer to as the "cereal clan" as they seem to take the names of breakfast cereals.

The last day of the wipe we were told by one of the server admins on The Stronghold that he was organizing a raid on our megabase. The raid would effectively be everyone willing to fight UnExPeCTeD clan and our ally YSS clan. As it turned out, infighting and conflict among the various clan leaders about tactics and who would command led to this idea fizzling out. It turns out we waited for an assault that was never to be, but we had fun waiting for it. This is not a PVP video or really very exciting. It's just a look at the main section of the largest base I've ever had the pleasure to build and some of the people who made it possible saying goodbye. We will miss the 2nd Death Star. It struck fear in the hearts of all who dared to dream of raiding it.

A clan on Blight server contacted UnExPeCTeD clan to go to their server and serve as hired guns for a base raid they wanted to do. We don't usually raid for pay but it sounded like fun so why not? About 18 of our clan turned up and gave ourselves Stormtrooper names to embrace our new sobriquet. As it turns out our services were required because word got back to the targets their base would be raided, so they were online and waiting for it. This was an intense assault and a little harder than it had to be. It wasn't our raid so the placement of the siege deck foundation was less than ideal. Placing it at the bottom of an escarpment where the targets could easily shoot down into it forced the raid to waste time and effort protecting the cars inside while they were being unloaded. After an intense and sustained firefight our superior numbers (~24 raiders) overcame our subpar deck placement and ad-hoc task group organization. When all was said and done, we got into the base but the loot was absolute garbage. As I said, having been ill-advisedly warned in advance by the very people who enlisted our services for the raid the targets emptied the base of valuables beforehand. Here's a hint folks, don't telegraph your punches. Having accomplished what we were asked to do though, most of our group logged out having enjoyed the fight. I don't play on Blight server so I don't have the privilege of knowing the people whose base we rekt. Just let me say to them, thank you for the spirited defense you put up. We've seen clans in a better position than you cease all effective resistance much sooner. Victory is much sweeter when it is earned.

We all fall from grace (me included) at one time or another and do let slip the salt. But that does not mean we shouldn't strive to be better men (and women of course) when we lose. Let the person(s) who killed you have their fun, the set of virtual balls being laid across the lips of your digital corpse is not real, and in a few seconds you will likely be in another part of the map as good as new. Ran up on a guy who either was in a menu crafting or afk. Shot him in the back of the head with an arrow. Not dead. Hit him again. Not dead. 3rd headshot at point blank range. No effect. I put 7 arrows into his head before he started moving and I asked him if he took any damage. He said absolutely no damage. So I switched from a recurve bow to a makeshift bow and went to put some arrows into a zombie to check. 10 arrows into the zombie's head later, it was still animate. I don't know what is happening here but it is reminding me of the shotgun no damage bug from a few months back. Let's try and reproduce this bug and get it fixed, eh Daybreak?

Got surprised exiting a melt shack at the end of the toxic tunnel at Dirty Deeds. These two Asian guys were rather uncommunicative but I surmised having seen me come out of it, they'd come back soon to raid it. Having a sizeable store of metal and backpacks inside I began to move the stuff out, knowing I'd have time before they respawned, went back to their base, and retrieved explosives. I was anticipating getting some payback and sure enough, like flies to shit they took the bait. I killed both of them, got all their gear and 6 IEDs and 12 Biofuel on top of all that. I then proceeded to demolition hammer the entire shack so when the enraged Asians returned, all they'd find is empty space. Not even the sleeping mat left behind. DENIED!
