Why are we assuming all these people have been loners most of the ZA? Glasses guy might have been living with a group, maybe even under protection the way Eugene was, or the way the Woodburians were. Once the competent people who were keeping him alive died or bailed on him, he finally had to try making a run for food on his own. Perhaps he was in a shelter with other beta survivors and only left it 20 minutes before he was surrounded. He was basically just walking around with his clothes on and not much else. He didn't strike me as someone they were depicting as a long survivor. He struck me as a naïve family man who just recently got a dose of reality.

Even Red Poncho Man, who looked like a survivalist, may not have been alone long. People die in the ZA all the time, so today we are a group of 5, next Monday we are down to 3, and four Thursdays after that, I am one.

 

Or if we'd started the season after the prison attack where people were all flung in different directions.

 

Perhaps RPG just woke from a coma.

 

What I don't understand is why more people don't sleep in the trees! No zombies to eat you there!

 

Got a feeling we'll get more deaths like this now the spin-off season is on the way. We've already been told alternate stuff will happen where it will match with the main programme 'in a different way'. Red poncho man may be back to fight another day?

 

Is it too simplistic to see RPG and the Wolves as a nod to Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf? Of course LRRH actually kills the wolf, so...

Possibilities
1. Exiles from places like Alexandria and Woodbury.
2. Escapees from Terminus, or the Hospital.
3. People have been living under a rock, as in: in a bunker, or a holed up in a church.
4. People like Eugene but get separated from their group.
5. People who give up living in the Zombie apocalypse. Or asking for death like Father Gabriel.

The top 4 would be likely unarmed and/or unskilled.

Explanation: it's a quick and easy way for the writers to get a walker kill scene on the television show without having to kill a cast member or have to explain anything.

Why's he wearing a red poncho? The extra picked it up off a rack in wardrobe ten minutes before they shot the scene.

I think red riding hood probably saw the wolves and said "hey, are you the guys riding around on the motorbike I heard?" and they said "we thought that might be you - no?"

 

No, it was deliberate. Its a nod to little red riding hood and the 'wolves'.

 

It's a big world with many varied experience scenarios, so I'm not surprised by lone survivors at this point and tine.

I have to wonder if people are murderous crazies everywhere or just where Rick and the group have been. Red Poncho guy could have been obvious to the human threat because they have encountered any bad people.
