I think, that blue flower was the key.

Looked like Madison got killed by Ennis in a field of those flowers , Nick was keeping a flower as a memory. (And wanted revange).

Losing both "Stars" of the show in the first half of one season would be a shock, because i think Madison and Nick have been the most interesting characters, while the others (Alicia etc.) are quite boring.

I really hope, that she is somewhere alive and they just try to make us think, that she is dead. But the message of this episode was, that shes already gone

 

I believe they're trying to make a real go of the Fear reboot here and there's no plan of a merge unless the ratings completely tank. Along with Lennie there are three other new characters in Maggie Grace, Garret Dillahunt and Jenna Elfman. I don't think they would've casted to that extent and would have instead just merged him in with the previous people alone.

Interesting theory about the flower. I bet you are right. If Madison's not dead, at least something bad happened there.

On Talking Dead, Morgan said the flowers have meaning for him, too. I rewatched after that, and at one point he casts a long look at the field. It's not terribly obvious because the color is so drained out of those scenes. I did think, oh, those are the bluebonnets, but it was just irritating to have the color taken out, and I couldn't care about them.

 

My money is still on Madison being alive, but the Jenna Elfman character could serve as a motherly type of role for Alicia if she is gone. The main promo for the season also showed her and Alicia together which is a little bit more of a curious scene now that we're a few episodes in.

 

I'm currently trying to play catch up on Fear and that's the burning question after Al's interviews. However, it seems as if that's what the directors and writers are wanting you think. Especially when strand said he lost his best friend.

He said “my friend” and he was referring to Nick. Especially since all three of them were recounting how they got to this current loss.

 

But they definitely are trying to make us think that in all other ways.

Oh, see I didn't take it that way since they've been giving us little nudges towards Strand and Madison's friendship. But I guess Strand and Nick go way back. I forget the little details with the character bonding. I learned lots of new things today!

No, I'm sure you are right. I'm not very smart when it comes to this stuff. I don't consider certain things, and focus on only what stood out to me at the time. They've been bringing up Madison and Strand's relationship lately so that's what I clued in on. I so freakin forgot about how Nick and Strand met. I'm so stupid lol.
