    I saw in another thread (and noticed myself) that while she had one hand over his mouth, her other forearm was across his throat, supporting a lot of her weight....... That would likely do it.

    I believe what Neuro said on another thread. That was part of Lydia's false memories based on Alpha's brainwashing her. None of what Lydia remembered was real until the part where she remembered her Dad being her protector and her mom being a psycho and killing him.
