You know, the first time I read the early comics, I got the compendiums from my local library. The compendiums don't announce that an issue has ended, or a volume has ended. Maybe that's why I didn't notice the change in the artwork beginning with issue 7. Anyone else prefer the artwork in volume 1? It seems clearer to me, with better detail.

I hated that **** Chris. Can't even babysit without bitching. I wanted to high-five Carl when he called him out like that.

Quite a few trysts happening in this volume. I'm actually feeling kind of negative about some of the content in "Miles Behind Us", and I don't remember feeling that way before.

I actually like Charlie better. Lori got prettier around issue 7. And Dale stopped looking like The Thing from the Fantastic Four.

Yeah, but there's not much more than dialogue to distinguish Herschell from Dale, and have you noticed that in profile, Lori's nose is almost flush with the rest of her face. I found the children to be disproportionately sized at times too. I'm probably just being picky.

And what about the medieval state of gender relationships in this volume? I bitching, not hating, so bear with me. This volume just didn't sit well.

Well there is Dale's hat. :p. I agree, many of the faces look similar, but I thought that was true even with Moore. With Moore, Dale and Rick even looked almost identical in certain frames. I suppose every comic artist has a style that goes into each face. But yeah, later on, Amber, Holly, and Maggie are all basically the same person, just with a different shade of hair.

Lol, I'll give you that. Maybe I was just starry eyed the first time. It's early days for Rick and the gang, and ultimately, I love reading apocalyptic fiction. This story really only gets better.

I see this volume much differently. There is not much happening on the surface, but there is so much setup and foreshadowing to the future packed in here. There is a new artist on board and that usually takes a bit to acclimate, and we have a few new cast members to make us care about as well. I see this volume as a sort of dirt road that is taking me to my next destination; I could have taken the highway, but despite its bumps and rough patches it is faster and more scenic.

Empire Strikes Back would be a good example... :p

*EDIT* and weren't we counting snot-noses?

Its good stuff, I don't disagree, but I think the early issues are a little rocky. Good lord, I need some other women round here. Andrea is developing, Michonne is in the mix, but in the meantime the women are doing laundry and seducing or being seduced.

They are still trying to figure out this whole ZA thing. Social interactions will not just end when the dead rise, but some people will still struggle with letting go of the old way of things. We are still young into the event, and still looking for when it could end. Those that have already begun to shed their habits of the old world will likely be the ones that go a further distance. But it would probably still be hard to not have a few that will desperately clamor to whatever hookup they could get... To some it is the end of the world after all. :)

Sorry, I should rephrase that. What I meant to say is:

    "Plus --- GOOD TYREESE!!!! Wohooooo!"
