Here's an explanation that someone on Spoil the Dead linked us to. According to it he said I East. Not saying it's accurate but it would make sense for him to attempt to tell Rick the direction he's in.

Just my opinion, but I think the likelihood of anyone in the group knowing Morse code would be almost zero. Also, to me it did not look anything like that was happening.

If it comes out that a backwoods redneck like Darryl can use Morse code and was able to convey a message by a few seconds of eye fluttering to a southern sheriff that also knows Morse code then I will be disappointed.

 

I had to watch the video 6 times because I kept focusing on Rick's piercing blue eyes and not poor Daryl's puffy blinking peepers.

I wouldn't doubt if this were true, especially since that morse code poster you mentioned seeing earlier. We all know Daryl is smart enough to come up with something like this, I just hope Rick gets it.

 

I love it as well. It's probably a lot to hope for that Rick is understanding the message that Daryl is trying to send, but I think he at least sees that Daryl is trying to communicate which indicates that Daryl is in better shape mentally than he appears to be.

I just tried blinking it out myself, and it's hard.

 

It's an interesting theory and it would explain the obvious blinking that Daryl is doing, and I think we were all hoping for some kind of exchange to happen… But I feel like it would be a longshot that Rick would actually pick up on it .

 

I tend to lean on the side of believing this is entirely possible. Mainly because I am one of the most unobservant people on the planet....and that Morse Code chart was SO unmistakably THERE that even I noticed it....for the first time. So the hint is pretty clear for me.

And watching that clip in the OP...................

This was brought up already and I thought, probably not. But now, it looks pretty obvious that Daryl is blinking TO Rick. And it also looks like Rick is taking notice.

I don't think he would know immediately "Oh he's sending me a message via morse code".....but it might click later on. Hopefully Rick has a photographic memory.

They would have needed to have practice classes, sending blinking messages back and forth to each other. But it is such a smart thing to think up in case they got captured, I really like to hope they did.
