I like Rick so much, it took me a long time to bother to click on this thread, but I'm SO glad I did. This is the funniest string of comments of everything I've read on this entire site. You guys are all hilarious and wonderful.

The objections to the story lines don't resonate with me, but I enjoy reading them. Maybe the objection to Lincoln the actor is a guy thing. Someone is watching Arnold Schwarzenegger, but it isn't me. Someone is watching all of the musclebound "action" actors, but it isn't me. Lincoln is totally believable to me as a leader in a ZA. Strong, smart, and attracts good people to be with him so the group's strength grows exponentially.

I was talking generally. I know I don't know who would appeal to you in the role, but I am curious. What actors would have appealed to you for the Rick Grimes character if you had been casting director?

 

Jason Statham would be a great candidate imo. Even though he is english he doesn't fall to the "Lincon category", if you know what i mean. He is not sophisticated. The same applies to Vinnie Jones. Actually i'd like him even more. Even Woody Harrelson would be more convincing. The guy who played Shane would be a better Rick too as far as I'm concerned...

 

Thanks! I had to look up the first two. I haven't seen their movies, but they look like a good physical fit. Woody Harrelson would just creep me out. I can see him as a powerful evil force in the ZA.

I think the whole idea of Rick is that he is just a normal guy who didn't ask for any of this and is just doing the best he can?

He is imperfect in every way for this as we all would be but still he somehow leads by instinct and heart to keep his family going day by day.

Any stereotype of action hero proportions is not implies anywhere that I have seen,not even once.

He has created the face of Rick Grimes on TV and now is Rick Grimes period.

You don't have to like him,just accept him as he is.

 

You missed the point entirely. Yes Rick considered doing the wrong thing. In the end he chose to do the right thing! That's what separates a Rick from a Governor. It's not what one thinks, it's what one does!

This is a series show, if rick was perfect it would just be rick owning everyone who was unlucky enough to cross his path.... wouldnt make it past series 1...

This is a series about supposed normal people thrown into an nightmare situation, it makes us desect every characters .. ... .. well character.... they are all flawed in many ways just like all of us on here.

this why these forums are here and millions discuss the show all over the world, because we love to talk about why any given character acted a certain way in a given situation! Its the same reason we all go nuts if the writers get it wrong and have a character act in strange way..

Its why we watch every week..

No, that’s pretty much what my post stated. Rick considered doing something very much like the Governor would have (i.e., kicking people out of their homes, so that his family could live there), but he didn’t hence why I said “If he had executed his plan…” I am just a little disappointed that Rick strongly considered such an option.
