Well, the comic had someone forget to lock the cell door as well so this is just the way the show brought it about. Loved the line about Gabriel having something from Negan's ass up his nose.

 

he was definitely playing a little bit of mind games to get under his skin, but there is a comic arc that could be similar to this if Negan is in fact telling the truth about Rosita talking about "another man"

 

I don't think it was lack of patience. It seemed apparent earlier in the episode that Gabe has actually had a lot of patience with Negan, visiting him every week even with the same results. Gabe probably deals with a lot of the 5hit that Negan threw at him on a weekly basis - BUT with the news of Rosita, the lady of his life, and more that it was his fault she was out there, he was already angered. Negan just threw fuel on an already burning fire.

Unfortunately someone had to 'let' Negan out. It couldn’t really be intentionally but it had to happen at some point. After being locked up for 7.5 years it would be unbelievable for Michonne to just let him go - even Negan said he knew he was there for life. 'Stupidity' and forgetfulness was the only way to do it IMO. Plus, it happens in the comics so there’s that lol

 

Negan makes me laugh every time he’s on screen... he has the ability to get under anyone’s skin and in their head... you know Father Gabe is wondering what Rosita said just a little bit

 

it felt like Gabe got angry because he knows Rosita is too hot for him and he doesn't know how he landed her haha
