    Here goes nothing:

    Clue #1 "I help keep people safe, but I failed this time" - the obvious answer is the military, but you would never go the obvious route. Then I thought it could be surgical masks, the neighbor's kids wearing them.

    Clue #2 "The viewers knew I failed the 2nd they saw me" - Taking this clue in two pieces: "the viewers knew I failed", this could still refer to surgical masks but then you throw in the next bit "the 2nd they saw me": You state that clue #2 is play on words. You typed out "2nd" (as in a place holder) rather than "second" (as in a mark of time)???

    I am still so confused! But have not yet waved the white flag
