Parent's Television Council demands that AMC be removed from cable bundles due to the brutality of the season 7 premiere of TWD.

Because Rick ripping a guy's throat out with his teeth and then stabbing another guy a couple dozen times for basically dry humping Carl, the Governor mowing down 25 of his own people for basically no reason, the Governor chopping off Hershel's head with a sword, the people at Terminus cracking skulls with a baseball bat, slitting throats, bleeding people out, and then butchering and eating them, Noah's face getting eaten off, and the countless walker heads that have been split open or straight up exploded is all good wholesome family programming, but bashing skulls with a barbed wire baseball bat is just taking things too far. Apparently in the modern world it's the responsibility of your cable provider to monitor what your kids can and cannot watch on TV.

I hate people sometimes.

Well, they will fail in that effort, what with TWD being the most popular show on all cable, period.

Given what I imagine their purpose for existing is, no wonder they are upset, but this was never for kids, so why are they even watching it in that context???

They are just ashamed of themselves for being horrible parents and think this is the solution. They probably put a TV in little Junior's room to keep him busy while they watched their cop dramas in peace, and oops, he was watching TWD this whole time. Now the entire cable network and millions of viewers should bend to their will. Great lessons to teach your child.

http://w2.parentstv.org/blog/index.php/2016/10/25/ptc-the-walking-dead-demonstrates-why-families-need-cable-choice/ :

"How about doing what your name implies…be PARENTS.

Don’t rely on a ratings system for ANY show. If you don’t want your kids to watch it, you control them. Don’t expect someone else to babysit your children. It does NOT take a village to raise your kids…you do it.
Also, you mention that your cable provider has AMC in their line-up, therefore you’re helpless. I don’t know a cable system out there that you can’t password lock any channel you wish to have regulated.
They system doesn’t require adjustment, you do. Be parents, raise your kids."

Actually, I do like the idea of buying just the channels you want. I sure don't volunteer to "subsidize" the PTC's enjoyment of cartoon channels. But I think that project requires Congressional action.

Yes parents need to do their job, don't be a Lori! Unfortunately there are a lot of sick puppies out there that aren't being watched. I don't see how a show would make you go out and commit violence but I do see how it can desensitize kids, that's a danger in itself. We don't need a whole generation walking around without empathy though I get the feeling we're already there.

Parents Television Council is essentially a group of do as I say not as I do people. They preach a message of how terrible thus are and shaming things yet go home shut their bedroom door and put on the porn. I don't need people to tell me what my kids should and can watch I can actually think for myself and parent appropriately. Shocking in today's age I know.

Parents Television Council will not win over any support for future "campaigns" if they try to remove AMC from cable bundles. Cable companies are losing subscribers left and right - they will be cutting themselves off at the knees if they fold to whatever the crybaby group of the month happens to be.

For years I had Time Warner Cable and AMC was never offered on their first tier package. I had to pay for the first tier and the second tier in order to have the one damn channel I cared about.

Just months ago my monthly bill for cable increased by $35.00 per month (total bill was now at $140.00 month for mid tier cable, no premiums but did include WiFi) and the cable company was not willing to negotiate. Simple as can be, told them to cancel.

Now I have SlingTV, pay a grand total of $20 per month for 40 channels that include not only AMC but also USA, SyFy, BBC America, HGTV, CW, Fox, NBC, History among others.

Point being this so called council has their work cut out for them...it is no longer a matter as simple as bullying a couple of cable/satellite companies

Personally I haven't even had cable or satellite in years. The only newer shows that I really keep up with I can get on Amazon. I have to buy the seasons, and I don't get to watch them until the next day, which is fine with me. I bought season 7 of TWD for $27, which is a fraction of what a single month of a cable package that includes AMC would cost. Paying for cable isn't worth it to me. I watch TWD, FTWD, Orphan Black (which is almost done anyway), Better Call Saul, and Once Upon a Time. There's not really much else on TV that I want to watch. I can buy the season passes for all of those shows for what I'd pay for a couple months of cable service. That's all I need.

I have SlingTV too - it was tough for me to risk not being able to watch as TWD aired but over the summer i got another $160+tax cable & internet bill and realized we hadn't watched anything outside of Netflix for weeks. So i did it, and i was fully prepared to buy the episode the next day but it worked without any issues, thankfully! I think there was a 5 minute delay to allow for any glitches, because the episode didn't start until 9:05pm for me.

I was also concerned about how it would hold up due to high traffic so I called their customer service line (which is excellent by the way) and the person I spoke with suggested that as a safe guard to have AMC playing about an hour or two prior to the episode premier. I did not have a single glitch or hiccup other than as you said I was about 3 minutes behind due to the delay. I have had the service since May and have yet to regret cutting the cable cord1

That's so funny because i said a few hours before it started that we should turn it on just in case it works like a "first come first serve" thing. I thought i was being ridiculous, but we turned it on about an hour and a half before (we have it on the Xbox) and shut the screen off so my daughter couldn't see it until she went to bed lol.

Ah, censorship. In that spirit,

Im willing to bet good money (and page's virginity) that these same Parents are the first ones in line to get their sensitive darlings the newest and most violent xbox, PS, Wii, etc. etc. game as soon as it comes out - most of which are 100 times more brutal then Sunday's episode. Pffftttt, let them whine, we'll file their complaint together with the petition to bring Beth back.
