It looks as though much of next week will be dreams, memories and hallucinations. I'm not looking forward to that. But I forgot about the original season 9 preview scene with Daryl, Eugene, etc. running toward a downed Rick with a herd on the other side.
That gives me some hope.
Dying on a road alone, stuck on rebar as the two herds merge, seeing a montage of the past, then getting muched on by walkers is not the way I'd like to see Rick go. The character deserves better than that.
I agree that Daryl and Maggie will be consumed by guilt. Maggie will probably take off to Georgie. I'm more interested in how this will affect Daryl going forward. Will he bend more towards Rick's dream or mow down the remaining Saviors in a fit of rage? How will Michonne react? And will someone finally kill Negan already?! I doubt that, but I'd like it.
My husband asked if I'll cry next week when he dies. Duh. Who won't? It's Rick.

I found myself tearing up already just seeing Rick lying there impaled and so vunerable. Crap, I hate this.

 

All of those preview shots of him having flashbacks/the hallucinations/illusions looked designed to rip out our hearts.
Is next week's episode going to be an extended one? It seems like it should, considering what's happening.

 

I was so traumatized, I didn't see any of this. I must have been averting my eyes by then. I didn't know Rick and the horse got out. I feel much better.

 

I think it's like an hour and a half. I think. And yeah, it looks like magic. They've recreated scenes and put " present" Rick into them. No small feat, but who is more worthy of such a send-off!

 

Thank you. I think Rick's last episode should be longer, but I guess that would just be extra torture for us. They can do a lot with an hour if it's written right. A limited commercial interruption setup would be nice though.

 

I think the preview of the group running toward Rick is part of the hallucinations, and those may actually be the Walkers almost on top of him.

He "sees" the group, coming in for that famous "last-minute" save we've all come to expect.

He's scheduled. Don't know if it's in-person or satellite, but he'll be there.
