It's been established that he probably got a tetanus shot when he was in the hospital in episode 1, after being shot. But that's a dirty, nasty wound and without antibiotics he could get a bad infection or gangrene... maybe we will see him lose it after all, wouldn't that be a surprise!
Although adapting to an amputation while planning a war wouldn't be ideal

I also noticed in the episode when he was climbing up the pile to talk to her they focused on his hand for a good few seconds and I was starting to think he would lose it once he cut it on the walker then they focused on it a lot after that

That would be interesting, but I doubt it. One of Kirkman's biggest regrets, according to him, is making Rick lose his hand. And I don't think they want to green screen his arm for the rest of the show, or make him wear a prosthetic. He'll be fine. He'll heal up nicely and quick, just like Aaron healed from his beat down in less than 48 hours. :p

I would think the hand that got the focus was Rick's unharmed hand?
And actually, I think they want to focus at his wrist-watch. For whatever reason, I don't know.

I thought she was going to ask for his watch. They won't have him him lose his hand. It's too expensive to CGI. They need the money for other things like the awful green screen in the junk yard.

If I heard correctly, on TTD, Pollyanna McIntosh said that they actually built the junkyard set. I imagine Shiva is enough of a green screen project at the moment.

The watch has been a focal point in a few episodes...

I believe they built the immediate junk yard set (not sure why it doesn't smell though, and there's no seagulls). But those long shots—no way.

I think they keep playing with his hand as a tease to comic readers, but won't actually go through with it.

Yeah he can't lose his hand through infection. It's bad enough Charl wearing that damn patch!

They could always have Rick lose function in his hand.

Oh I know Kirkman says that, but Kirkman is a troll, he also said he wished Abe was around for AOW. Buuut that being said I think he enjoys trolling the sh*t out of us with this whole hand situation, he does it to mess with us all the time, for example: the whole Carl/Negan/hatchet incident in episode 1.
I just think it would be kind of hilarious if he actually did it this time, and Rick loses his hand to gangrene...no one would see it coming.
But I do agree that they probably just don't have the budget or the gumption to green screen his arm out for the rest of his life, it would be highly annoying.
    Lol about Aaron

Agreed. But I think the ultimate troll would be to just do it in a random way like this... it would be funny IMO

True, I could see that happening, it would be a good compromise.

It focused in his left hand, not the injured one.

His wedding ring is missing?? I can't seem to remember if it was shown that he has taken it off?

It would be an interesting time to have him lose his arm to gangrene, right during a time they are gearing up for war, that's for sure. Would really throw a wrench in things. But I think much more likely we won't hear much more about this hole in his hand other than seeing a bandage on his hand for awhile, maybe a scene with him actually changing the bandage lol. Then after awhile it will just be a scar we see occasionally.

It's been established that both the Hilltop and Kingdom both have good doctors. There's really no reason he should lose it. (They healed up Carol from her gunshots and Maggie/baby).

I'm not worried about Rick losing his hand. It just won't happen.

Right now I'm more concerned for his leg.

They've teased us a bit with his hand. Remember the walker with the knife sticking out of it he cut his hand on last season? Was that the same hand?
