It could be important for blood type. Let's say she gets injured and needs blood like carl did.
You can't just hook up an IV and transfer incompatible blood types.

    it could kill her.

You don't need to paternity test him to see if they are matching blood types.

Well good to see all the responses that it doesn't matter. I didn't think so either, but thought it was a fun question to ponder ;)

I ain't gonna lie, if I was Rick I would be curious and I think it would give him some sense of relief to know she is his. But at the same time if she isn't, it isn't really gonna matter. She is an innocent baby that has to be protected and he is gonna do whatever he has to to do that.

Its still not a reliable paternity test. There's no guarantee it will accurately confirm or rule out paternity, and unless Rick actively sought out the info from the chart, he wouldn't know, even if by chance the test ruled him out. So he needn't know the paternity to know the blood.

Add to that, Carl's blood type is A+. as is Rick's. Only Rick could give blood to Carl, Lori could not, after he was shot. That means Lori was either type B or AB. Much more likely she was B, as it is about 3 times more common than AB. So Rick is A, and Lori likely B: No impossible children. So it would show nothing.
