I have to disagree with anyone who thought Daryl should have attacked Alpha when they were alone.

Ok he kills Alpha. What's his next move?

His friends are at the mercy of a group of Whisperer's and he's just been shown a massive horde controlled by the Whisperers.

Not many good options.

I don't see the urgency that some viewers see. There is no evidence that Alpha would have killed Daryl. From his perspective his group is totally at Alpha's mercy and if she wanted him dead, he'd be dead. What point would there be in Alpha leading him away only to kill him in private? What makes no sense for anyone to consider this at all.

No Daryl did the right thing and used the only move he had at that time. Hold his tongue and go along.

 

Yeah, Daryl is already very perceptive and at 40/50 yrs old he's still maturing and finding is own path as a leader.

He's a late bloomer, but I see Daryl becoming an amazing leader. He showed patience with Alpha and las learned to keep his hot head (and fists) in check.

 

So, the leader of the group who is helding your friends captive - a group that you know is 1) dangerous and 2) furious at you because you kind of kidnapped their leader's daughter and pushed her second in command down an elevator shaft - takes you apart to explain to you her grandiose plans to wipe off your community... A community you know is without their fighters (either gone or captive)... She is clearly threatening you and lets you understand she already did something pretty bad... And what you do is go back and kneel down with the others (who might be dead already for all you know)? Not a ****ing chance. Daryl was there at the Terminus. He was there with Negan.

He kills Alpha, he has a next move. He doesn't, who knows? So what if she doesn't plan on killing him right now?
