I'm kind of getting tired of Simon's schtick. The actor who portrays him is doing great. I just don't find anything appealing about the character anymore.

He's like a poor man's Negan with barely half the charisma and no charm. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

He's like JV Negan. Diet Negan. Splenda Negan. Watered down Whiskey served at Applebee's Negan. Canadian Football Negan. Generic supermarket brand Negan. T-mobile Negan.

Get the picture? If not, I could continue.... NIT College Basketball Tournament Negan. Chick-Fil-a Bowl Negan. Understudy Negan. Bench warmer Negan. The last girl cut from the Cheerleading squad Negan, The gal who wasn't good enough to be one of the bride's maids and was asked to be a Greeter Negan, Consolation bracket Negan, Guy who was outbid by 1 dollar on The Price is Right Negan......

 

Cover band Negan. Okay. That last one was gold. I'm out.

SIMON is the muscle! Not Negan with Lucille! I just rewatched Simon saying, "Light 'em up!" and the the Heapsters being slaughtered. They know Negan's rule, but they didn't miss a beat. They've done that before--on Simon's order. Betcha!

deadpool says when we first met Simon, he was finishing off the last survivor of some group. I think Simon took out all of the men in the group that became Oceanside and THAT is why Negan is SO menacing when he tells Simon to deliver the standard message--just one killing--to the Heapsters. That is why Negan yells at Simon not to take out Hilltop, even though Maggie delivered Dean in a box and captured the rest of the outpost.

Negan thinks he has Simon under control. He thinks he has all of the other groups cowed. Negan has never been in control. Simon just keeps taking care of the rebellions.
