I don't know. Abu Dhabi has some beautiful architecture. I'd like to see it some day. Of course I'd like NOT to get shot in the head doing so, and would not like to have to cover up from head to toe to walk around in public.

Jussie Smollett is tangentially back in the news. A judge decided a special prosecutor should be appointed to look in to district attorney Foxx' dropping the matter. I'm sure she'll sweat a bit about this -- unless she's sure she's covered by the powers that be.

"Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx's handling of the controversial Jussie Smollett alleged hate crime case -- including the contentious decision to suddenly drop all charges against him -- will be examined by a special prosecutor, an Illinois judge ruled Friday afternoon."

Boeing pulled off a huge coup, getting a deal to sell 200 !! of the 737 planes that have been in the news lately for a couple of crashes.

    "
It takes a lot to shock the French. Yet Boeing managed it—and more—at the 2019 Paris Air Show.

On Tuesday, after months of being on the back foot over the worldwide grounding of its best-selling 737 MAX, the Chicago planemaker revealed a secret deal to supply 200 of the troubled aircraft to International Airlines Group (IAG), the sixth-largest airline group in the world. Boeing stock rose more than 5% on the news."

Honestly. Some people are beyond words.

"A mother looking to win big at a casino may have lost big time after leaving her child unsupervised at a nearby McDonald’s.

Employees of the Peoria, Ariz., fast food eatery noticed the 9-year-old boy was all by himself and called the police. They also reportedly provided the kid with food and activities while they waited for authorities to arrive.

Stacy Rupp dropped her son off at the restaurant around 8:30 on Wednesday evening, Yahoo Lifestyle reports. Employees not only noticed that the child was unsupervised, but was also “dirty and disheveled.” Rupp allegedly left her child alone at the restaurant for two hours before returning.

Officer Brandon Sheffert of the Peoria Police Department told Yahoo Lifestyle that the kid said his mother had dropped him off so she could go gambling, but that he wasn’t upset and said that “she always comes back.”

This is a good idea! It will decrease waste, save the fish, and has no apparent downside.

    "
Corona may have just made the traditional six-pack a thing of the past.

In an effort to move away from plastic six-pack rings, Corona is testing out a new type of beer can. The new cans have threading at the top and bottom that allow them to be connected and stacked on top of each other, creating a long staff of Corona beers."

I'd volunteer to be on this woman's jury, or, to just turn in my "guilty" verdict in advance.

    "
A woman has been charged with criminally negligent homicide after police say she ran over her 3-year-old son during a game of “chicken" in Houston.

Surveillance video from June 11 shows Lexus Stagg, 26, backing up her 2006 Lincoln Navigator as her three children chased after it. She then switched gear and drove forward, striking the boy and trapping him under the right front tire, according to a statement Friday from Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg.

Stagg then continued to drive forward and ran over the toddler again with the back right tire, Ogg said."

    No aliens yet.

    "
A comprehensive study from a number of organizations, including one funded by Russian billionaire Yuri Milner, found no evidence of extraterrestrial life among more than 1,300 stars in close proximity to Earth, a hunt that spanned more than 3 years.

"After excluding events with characteristics consistent with terrestrial radio interference, we are left with zero candidates," the study reads.

Published in The Astrophysical Journal, the study looked at 1,327 stars close to Earth and found no "glaringly obvious" evidence of extraterrestrial life, University of California- Berkeley astrophysicist Danny Price said in an interview with Live Science. "There's no amazingly advanced civilizations trying to contact us with incredibly powerful transmitters.""

This whole Gallagher trial keeps getting stranger by the day!

    "
Dr. Frank Sheridan, a forensic pathologist, told a Navy prosecutor earlier that the alleged victim's injuries were consistent with a stab wound, but later-- when questioned by Gallagher's attorney-- appeared to cast doubt on his earlier comments.

"There is no evidence at all that a stabbing occurred,” said Maj. Nelson Candelario, a Marine defense attorney representing Gallagher.

    “That’s true,” Sheridan replied.

“As far as you can see, there is no blood on his hands?” Candelario asked, displaying a photo of Gallagher at the scene. “As far as I can see,” the pathologist said.

“Your testimony here is built on possibilities and maybes,” Candelario said, pointing out that there was no autopsy or physical evidence."

So a woman asked her younger sister to be a bridesmaid at her wedding, and this is the dress the sister chose for herself. Do you think she was not-so-subtly saying she didn't want to be a part of the wedding? BTW, unless the bride was marrying her ex or something, it's pretty low class not to support your own sister on her special day!

Ah, the 4th of July, when one's mind turns naturally to guns, bibles and flags.

    "
A rural Alabama car dealership is giving away a Bible, a 12-gauge shotgun and an American flag with the purchase of any new or used vehicle as part of its Fourth of July sales promotion.

Chatom Ford, a dealership in Chatom, Ala., went viral for its “God, Guns and Freedom” campaign that is running until July 31. The dealership’s general manager Koby Palmer talks about the offer in a Facebook video that now has more than 60,000 views. In the video, Palmer cocks his rifle in one hand and holds a Bible in the other while standing in front of a pick-up with an American flag draped over its tailgate."
