Rewatching the eppy now. Anyone else notice their sign language is.....off? Sign language is very precise and they just seem to lazily move their hands every once in a while. They also say a lot more words than they sign. I know both the actors are at least partially to fully deaf so this comes across really odd to me.

I’m Hard of Hearing myself and know ASL, but yeah the sign language on this show is meh. Connie and Kelly do it just fine since they’re both Deaf/HOH in real life. Carol wasn’t bad lol. Then again I assume Kelly and Connie are reading lips too in addition to seeing the signs. That’s what I do. I lip read while listening to people talk with their voices and even when I communicate with my Deaf or HOH friends, I tend to lip read as well as watch the signs then they talk (if they choose to say the words but not out loud hence me lip reading).

But hey I appreciate the efforts of Magna, Luke, and Yumiko.

Yeah, and I guess maybe that's about what we'd expect if they were never really trained in ASL and just learned it while on the run in a ZA?

I used to be pretty good at ASL but this was when I was a kid. I’m thinking about taking lessons and relearning it.

You totally should! There are always new signs and so many different ways to sign/convey something. It’s a beautiful language. I enjoy it

I have no idea about sign language, so wouldn't know if it was correct or not. But wouldn't you think the character playing the deaf mute who is the same in real life would complain if they were just blowing off the signs to get the job done without them being real?
