I kind of thought that too but then I watched this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50ppVr7qKEE&feature=related - David Morrissey seems to put a lot of emphasis on how important to the Governor the relationship is. Obviously he doesn't give away exactly what the Gov's plan is. One guess would be that he sees her as this Amazonian warrior woman and wants her for his baby mama. But he's a crazy bastard so who knows....

I don't think TV Governor is a rapist at all! Unlike his disgusting comic counterpart, he doesn't send me that vibe. He can get pretty much any woman he wants to with his charm. The only girl I'd see him raping is Michonne because he'd do it out of vengeance. He was not interested in Maggie besides knowing the location of Rick's group. It'd be very out of character for what he's been showing as of now.

People who say TV Governor is evil clearly have no idea what he actually did in the comics. Anything TV Governor does in the series is "meh" to me, because his counterpart is much more hateful... A bit disappointing, but I can live with that. I'm not a fan at all of TV Governor, he's... indiferent to me.

If the group (Carl) sees them coming then they can lock themselves inside in such a way that nobody can even get to them.

Isn't that what Rick said to do?

they made it 100% obvious he didn't rape her. He was just intimidating her and letting her know he could do whatever the hell he wants to her if he felt like it. He was mentally breaking her. He just had sex with andrea like 10 minutes before that and he is no teenager. I'm sure he needs recovery time

    Which part?

about the intimidating her, the mentally breaking her or about him needing recovery time?

From all my reading here on the forum I totally thought they were going to go ahead with it, and I was dreading that part of the episode. I was so relieved they didn't do it - I personally think, however dark the series is or becomes, there are places they don't have to go. Whoever made that call made the right one.

Well...I think if they went as far in the show as they did in the comics, it would lose a bit of the "Reality" for me. In the comics he is just too far over the top to honestly believe he managed to organize much beyond a barking contest with the next dog to wander about.

A really GOOD "Baddie" is one you can almost sympathize with. "There but for the grace of God," as it were. Make him too much of a psycho freak and he loses the ability to get under the skin. In my opinion, of course.

I believe he would have raped her of she'd been fighting him off but since she told him to do whatever he want
ed he knew it would be pointless.

Raping a woman in chains is far over the top and unreal to you?
You clearly haven't read any rape stories in Sudan or Rwanda...

In this case, reality is actually MUCH WORSE than what the Governor did in the comics...

Actually, I have been in both locations and others. My point was one of believable drama not the evil things humans are capable.

Sure, the Gov. could have easily been written to actually rape Maggie but, I think the act would be little more than banal gratuity as, it really did not fit the current plot stream. While the Gov. certainly strikes me as about a vile as they come, he is no fool and, if he wants info, rape is not the means to get it.

Very good point. It speaks to his nature as a sadist. Needing the "Fight" to make it fun.

Of course, have to boast a little here. My girls were growling about how easily the chair would have been to lay across his melon head and then, they would own the pistol and knife. No, my girls are not the demure sorts by any means. *giggling*

I just watched this episode and felt the same way, almost puked too. I watched the following episode and I’m glad Glenn asked her twice if she was raped – sadly I would have done the same. I still hope nothing happened; I want/need to believe that. Seriously if something happens to either Glenn or Maggie I stop watching the show.

Rape is about power and rage, not necessarily sex. "If" a woman doesn't want it? Really? And the man doesn't care if its painful for the woman....he does what he does and gets out of there.

    It being enjoyable?

    And yes, it is painful.

    Idiot.

In regards to the other almost rape scene - why didn't Lori tell Rick about what happened the first night at the CDC?

She had plenty of opportunities......especially in the 2nd season when she was telling him how dangerous Dale thought Shane was.

What I don't get is how Merle managed to tie both of them up with one hand...

No because Glenn even stated he thought Merle was by himself hiding in that random building.
