Am I the only one who's been wondering about that particular scene? It definitely seems foreshadowing to me. Why that particular verse? I don't know, it just seemed odd. And the way The Governor threw it down after reading it. Ahhh, why does TWD have to be so cryptic sometimes?!

Do you remember the verse off the top of your head? I have only a vague recollection of it.

I agree. It was definitely aimed at the Gov!

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Had to go back to the story sync to get that.

I think it mentioned about being good and being evil. I think Hershel used it to tell the Governor his ways were evil. That's what I think now, but was going to pause on that later to read it better.

If that's the case, it almost seems like Herschel knew The Governor was going to find it.

Oh I definitely think the group intended the Gov to find it. I think it was Hershel's way of saying when this is all said and done, we'll be alive and you'll be walkers.

Story sync is an interactive thing on the AMC website during each episode. It has polls, trivia, freeze frames, who kills the most walkers, flashback screenshots... I find it very fun!

Thanks, I know what you're talking about now. I've never used it though.
I know Hershel thought the Guv would find that figuring the Guv would look everywhere to find a sign where the group went, even though it was a trap, and Hershel left it in an area where they lived.

and come out--those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.

It was Hershel's taunt to the governor. One of my favorite parts of the episode. Hershel is a badass

I'm just glad Hershel took the time to grab a highlighter somewhere along the line. Really came in handy.

Agree. Any biblical verse relating to resurrection has a significant double meaning within the context of the show. And as a religious man, Hershel was making the point that regardless of what happens, the Governor will be judged for actions by a power beyond this world.
