    Are there any fans of the above books? The lastest instalment of the Legacy series is Blood Fury, the third book in the series. Has anyone read it? Thoughts?

    Paranormal romance books actually coughporncough. Tbh many of us find them a guilty pleasure and I'll take a Brother over a Christian Grey or even a Gideon Cross but they're running neck to neck with Jamie Fraser.

    Christian Grey is vanilla when it comes to the brothers. Talk about hardcore.

    Just finished Dearest Ivie. Nice little tear jerker there. Ruhn is certainly getting around but who do you think will turn out to be Silas's lost brother? Will he also have Cane's lethargy? Someone we already know or a new character?

    With The Thief almost here, I wonder if WARDen will take us further into Jo Early's story. As Manello's full blooded sister and Butch's half sis you know they have to bring her into their world, especially since she's already inadvertently exposing their existence on the web.

    I'd like to run through what we know about their "sire" and I have an idea how the inconsistencies might mesh but if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

    Me too!!!! I'm practically giddy!!!I April 10th is right around the corner. Love how she expanded the universe as the series continued and I've been dying for Assail and Sola's HEA. I hope she doesn't water it down like she did with Xcor and Layla but I'm not going any place. Were you a Cellie by any chance when her old web site was up? Good times there for sure!

    How are we going with The Thief? Just finished my first hearing (audio book) and honestly, I am abit disappointed.
    Lets start with some of the characters.

    Viktoria: Comes into the scene all cool and collected. A profession that seem to know what she is doing only to lose her cool upon seeing Assail, and getting killed in the end. What a waste. I thought she was a character that had potention for a few books down the road as Caldwell next drug Lord.

    The Grandmother, Mrs Cavalho: Funny as usual and cooking for up a storm and complaining everyone is is too thin and must eat more.

    Ehric: I cannot wait to read more about him in the future. I am intrigue.

    V and Jane: Half of the book was given to their relationship. It is starting to get old if you ask me.

    Throe and the Shadow: Why is Throe getting involve in such creepy stuff? He is even having masturbation sessions while touching the black magic book. The shadows that Throe has concocted, not only kill its victims but but the victims return as Zombies. W.T.F!!! Worst... there is a video circulating the BDB world with V killing that civilian before he turns. It looks there might be some problems down the road for the king. What more amazing is that this black magic book was once stored in the Santuary! Wrap your head around that! So the question is, someone, or something had to remove it in order to give it to Throe. V thinks it might be one of the Choosen.

    Sola and Assail: I guess because so much was given about this couple in previous books it was difficult to write more. All I can say is, Assail threats oral sex like his favourite dessert, he can never get enough!

    Murdher and J Early. More to come in 2019!

    Off on my 2nd hearing. Will write more later.

    I spent the whole day yesterday reading this book. I want to say we can finally feel comfortable discussing this series on this site since WARDen has her shadow entities making ZOMBIES out of the civilian vampires they attack and kill!!! She even made a reference to Norman Reedus which made me laugh!! Methinks someone is watching TWD and is a Daryl fan. *wink*

    This book thing is creepy. You might have a better feel for this than me because you read her angel books but could this be a crossover maneuver to indroduce Devina?
    Could she somehow either be in the book or controlling it now that it's down on earth? And for the life of me I don't know why it would be up in the Sanctuary and who would know it was there and what it was to begin with. Wrath, the brothers and most of the Chosen were clueless. Lassiter tells V that he's going to "guide the end". Has he fulfilled that by giving the Brotherhood the key to killing the shadow army by using the sanctuary water filled hollow tipped ammo? Maybe he'll have to use the power in his hand to destroy the book but since it has a life of it's own it probably won't be easy. And the big mystery is, of course, how did that book get stolen in the first place?

    Yeah, yeah I hear you about the V and Jane sitch. Everyone loves V, especially when he's all lovey dovey with Jane and fans seem to clamor for him sooooooo she gives them what they want, I guess.

    Concerning the main HEA. I believe Assail does his best work in the shower, true? If he wants to keep his females with him, all he has to do is have them drink his blood from time to time. Well, Sola can drink during smexy time but they'll have to sneak it in something Vovo drinks. lol Do you think she knows the vampire secret or will they keep it from her until she passes? She probably won't care if they all convert to Catholicism cause they'll all be forgiven in her eyes, if they take the sacraments during mass. Now we're gonna have a big contingent of vamps in church, including Butch and Manny. Funny!

    I thought Vitoria would stay around longer too, but she knew too much. First, she found Riccardo's body and I don't think it would have been too long before she would have been stalking Assail or Marisol or god forbid the grandma. It's best she's out of the picture cause they don't need more distractions while Throe is still on the loose. I did like the way it show cased how bad ass Sola is by having her be the one that killed Vitoria in the end. Anything to protect her male. She might as well have been the one who said MINE and she proved she won't be a clingy human woman. She can contribute and who knows, may be called upon again if necessary aaaannnnddd V likes her *rolls eyes*.

    I do agree that the cousins are becoming more and more interesting....especially Ehric.

    Next up is Murdher and Jo Early. I was wondering how they would bring Jo into their world. Apparently, V went there and swiped her memories but detected, probably by scent, that she was a half breed about to transition. Unlike her brothers, one who had to be jump started and one who is content to let things lie, she's gonna go full on vamp naturally like Beth. Lucky her, Murdher is gonna come to the rescue. Let's face it. Who else could they pair her with, she being of Wrath's bloodline but to a Brother that needs a redemption arc? Not only that but once at the complex, she's going to run into Manny and she's been looking for him. Their relationship is gonna come out which is only going to complicate matters. I predict we'll see more of Butch in the next book as well. Wrath will be in on this one too. Once M bonds with Jo , any concerns about Xhex will disappear. I'm gonna assume he never bonded with Xhex even though they were together.

    As I was reading, I remember there were a few bomb shells here and there but I can't remember what they were except with the V/ Jo swipe. Maybe I'll do a re read.

    Some excerpts from The Thief by J R Ward

    chapter 35

    "I will take good care of you and your grandmother," he said roughly.
    Leaning back, Sola pegged him with a hard eye. "That's a two-way street. I'm not a damsel in distress who needs to be saved, I'm a partner who will help you to survive, too. If there is a price on my head, then the Benloise family has one on yours, too. You need me as well."
    "Yes," he murmured. "I most certainly do."
    Sola had to smile. "Guess I told you, huh."
    "You certainly did. And it's a huge turn-on. You want to go upstairs and order me around some more?"
    She narrowed her eyes again. "Say please."
    "Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease..."

    Chapter 45

    "Mrs. Carvalho," he said as he approached the bed. "you are looking very well indeed-"
    The elderly lady interrupted him with a weak voice. "If you do no marry my granddaughter, I will die---"
    "Vovo!" Marisol snapped. "Are you even serious right now!"
    The woman put her arm over her forehead. "I am feeling faint. I feel no good---"
    Alarmed, Assail all but lunged for the door. "Madam! I must summon---"
    "Baloney," Marisol said as she put her hands on her hips. "Why aren't any of those machines going off?"
    Mrs. Carvalho dropped her arm and appeared irked by the logic. "They no work. Pieces of junk."

    Chapter 51

    Before V launched into the report, he thought about telling them all to kiss his ass. But considering he had both his buck and that ass exposed, he was worried someone might take him up on the offer---and then he'd have to kill them. Which would get messy. After all, he was willing to do Fritz a solid, but there were more effective ways to create work for that doggen and his staff.

    `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
    He snapped his fingers. "And that's when it dawned on me. Our bullets have water from the Sanctuary in them. Those hollow tips that I fill for all of you, that's the difference. And it's a material one, evidently. Because without that little booster shot of the holy-holy, those f**king entities can't be slowed down---and if they get you? You're Norman Reedus with the bad things in the afterlife."
    The thing about audiobooks is that you get to hear all the unnecessary chatter, even if the speaker does an excellent job with the various accents, it becomes trying after a while. Perhaps I should really invest in the written version. Maybe, we will see. You are so right, once Zombie play came into motion, I thought this book fits in here, so no worries. :) true.
    I started reading the Angels series, but abandon it after the first book or so. I did read the last one which was such a rush job, I got a feeling that Ms Ward just wanted to close the Angel series and could not be bothered. Dealing with the supernatural always creeps me out, I am an "if it bleeds it leads" kind of girl and would prefer to leave black magic out of it, but I guess Ward wants to up her villains. Throe is being controlled by the book and does not even know it, it may destroy him in the end when he becomes a liability and Davina will return in full force into the BDB world, along with the two fallen angels who are on their way seeking out Lassiter. The mystery of who stole the book from the Sanctuary hopefully will be in the next book, as well as the Brothers figuring out that Throe is behind this new Shadow threat!
    I was quite amused with V being pissed that his mother did not leave him with her powers but instead gave it to Lassiter. Why should she, he never gave her the time and the day, it was always about V, V V and some. Maybe in the future she returns to her full form and Lassiter bonds with her. That will be fun! Lassiter could have his bow down to me motherf**k**s moment! LOL!
    As I said Assail and Sola had their moments in previous books, so I was not really expecting too much except Sola saving Assail from death and him telling her the truth about himself. Do you remember in a previous book where he finished all over her as if to mark her? Can we top that with the shower scene and the oral dessert? Let face it the erotic scenes are so much more hot in the BDB adult world than in the Legacy series. true? As for the grandmother, why do I have a feeling she already has her suspicions that something is different with Assail and his cousins, but she and Sola are treated exceptionally well and they all respect her and that that for trumps all. When Sola and her had their argument while she was recovering, I half expected Sola to shout out "they are vampires!" And the grandmother to reply " I know!" "So what if they are!" That would have certainly been a holy mother f**k moment! I am glad Sola came to her senses in the end and forgave Assail. All is well and more food for the boys! (Ehric, Ehvale and Marcus). One a side note I like strong female characters, and Sola is one, but at times she annoyed me, and I can understand she being mortified upon finally seeing the truth about Assail yet at times she can come across so self righteous, as she does not understand why Vampires hiding from the human world and they and should come out, until V had to shoot her down as he reminds her about that immigration situation in the human world and how it is working out for her. Auch!
    I had liked the Viktoria character, another strong female character. She came in as a profession to find her brothers or take over the business. So funny when she reprimands her guard (forgot his name) for using foul language in her presence reminding him that she is a lady and her ears is not used to such profanity. She came across so cool especially how she dealt with the staff member who wanted her prove she was really the sister of Benlouise. The thing is, is she really dead? She is obviously heading down to Dudd or whatever the place is called where demons live, perhaps she meets Davina and a deal is struck as Davina takes control of her physical body. Viktoria has the potential for power and she has money and there is a void in that department to fill, the best place for Davina to hide while she makes plans to over take the world with her Lash. Sadly Throe is just a pawn in the whole game and soon to get his comeuppance.
    I am kind of looking forward to Murdher and Jo which I think is going to be the next book. A mad man and a half blood. I wonder if deets would be given as to the past stitch between him and Xhex. Some JM is going to come into play. Bring back the good ole days!
    I was trying to remember what happened to Devina so I went into my dark room looking for the last fallen angel book. I could not even remember if I still had it or sold it or just threw it away. Eventually, I found it online and copied and pasted some articles for your attention.
    Some excerpts from JR Ward Immortal - The Fallen Angel series.
    The Book
    "Devina’s book barely fit on the ledge, its ragged leather cover hanging off nearly to the point of falling. She figured Adrian must have put it there while he’d been working on the room. Or maybe the thing had climbed up the moldings and taken a seat by itself.
    She hated the weight of the tome in her hands, and the old-man-flesh feel of its cover. Hated being near it at all. Before, it had been nothing more than some book; now it felt like she was carrying a severed arm over to the light.
    It was two deep breaths before she could open the thing. Two more before she could actually look down and—
    “What the hell?”
    Frowning, she flipped through the pages, going back and forth and … nope, she recognized nothing. The writing now seemed like something utterly foreign, a hodgepodge of symbols and strange letters that was unreadable as far as she was concerned.
    Closing the volume up, she returned it to its place on the mantel."
    So could this be the book that was given to Throe? And could those shadows appearing be Devina's minions? They were always present cleaning up after her but I cannot remember what form they took. I will do further research.
    Devina's present location
    "It was the fall that lasted forever.
    At first, Devina thought she was stuck in a suck zone, but as the walls of her Well of Souls appeared on all sides of her, she realized she was actually descending into Hell on a dead drop.
    This was going to hurt.
    And she was right.
    The impact was soul-shattering, the kind of thing that made her lose breath, sight, heartbeat … as well as the illusion of beauty that required her conscious support. But she didn’t die. Even as all the pain receptors she had screamed in agony and her rotted flesh contorted and twisted against the onslaught, she was still “alive.”
    So when the flickering began high above her, she was able to witness it.
    At first, she assumed that it was stars dancing in front of her eyes from a head injury, but then she realized … no.
    It was a kind of shimmering snow.
    Except … no.
    It was her collection. Filtering down through the stagnant air of the well, all the pieces of metal she’d collected over the millennia drifted in a descent, as if they sought to stay with her even though she was in some kind of eternal prison now.
    Sitting up, she held out her arms, ready to catch the beautiful shower as it rained—
    None of the objects reached her.
    From out of the viscous walls of the prison that was now her jail as well, the tortured hands of the damned reached out and retook whatever was theirs, claiming the objects, grabbing them back, reestablishing ownership.
    Stealing from her.
    That was when the loss of the war hit home. And the demon wept tears that became black diamonds that skipped and jumped on the ragged stone floor by her worktable.
    She let the emotion have its way with her because she had no choice. She had lost her shot at domination. She had been cheated of an eternity that was rightfully hers. Her collection was gone. God only knew if she had any minions left to listen to her.
    Cupping her skull in her hands of bone, she wept so hard she thought she would shatter all over again, just as her beloved mirror had.
    But she did not.
    Eventually, the heaving and the tears stopped, and she sniffled and tried to mop herself up—although that was hard to do with the raw bones of her arm.
    Marshaling up some strength, she called on the illusion she had been relying on to make herself beautiful, thinking that at least that would cheer her up.
    Nothing happened. Her flesh did not reknit and rekindle its color and warmth. Her luxurious brunette hair did not sprout from her bald skull. Her legs did not magically appear smooth and luscious.
    She cried again at that point.
    Except then the sound of something clattering next to her brought her head up. It was a shoe. It was … one of her sparkling—
    The other half of the pair of Louboutins dropped right beside her.
    Sniffling, she reached out and brought them close, wiping off black smudges from the creamy-colored crystals … all of which were in metal settings.
    Proof positive that if you buy quality, it’ll last through everything. Including the portal into Hell.
    Looking them over, watching as the ambient light caught on those minute facets and reflected back to her, she prized them all the more because they were the last of her life up above, the final dredges of her precious collection. As it was now? All she had was that stained worktable of hers and this busted, rotting body.
    She stretched out and put one on, then the other. The fact that they were a size too small worked well now that there was little to no meat on her feet.
    As she turned her ankles this way and that, the shoes gleamed in spite of how ugly she was, the red soles still vibrant because she’d barely worn them.
    But soon she lost interest in admiring them.
    It turned out that therapist—who she was now convinced hadn’t been a human female at all, but rather the Creator Himself—was right. The stilettos were just objects. And anything that had truly mattered was out of reach now: her work doing evil, her love for Jim, her freedom to roam where and when she wanted.
    Just shoes.
    The Creator had been trying to get her to see a truth she had learned too late.
    The things? Were not the thing.
    But come on, she was evil. What else was a girl to do?
    Leaning her head back, she stared up, up, up … and wondered what Jim was doing. Probably celebrating with that Sissy.
    God, she hated him; she really did.
    Maybe someday, if she ever got out of this place … she could find herself a real man, someone who appreciated her for who and what she was. Someone who was sick and twisted, but had good traditional values, a nice bank account, and a sense of humor.
    And could go for hours in the sack.
    Probably nobody like that existed. But considering she had nothing else to do for … well, shit, maybe forever … she might as well live in fantasy.
    Memories and her mind were all she had now."
    Two things. Metal is important to Devina, it gives her power to bind things. She can also use a person's DNA to assume their form.
    Fallen Angels are seeking out Lassiter
    “What’s that smell?” he said, recoiling.
    And that was when he saw the smoke rising from the surface of the table. Dog had jumped up and out of his lap and was putting a paw down … under which a pattern was burning.
    Ad slumped in his chair. “No. Uh-uh. No way. We need a break—”
    “Oh, **** me,” Eddie breathed.
    When Dog finished with his little picture, the “animal” shuffled back and barked twice. Then planted his paw down again like he was pointing.
    Ad leaned over and felt all the blood leave his head. “No. Anyone but him.”
    “Where is he?” Eddie asked. “I thought he was in Purgatory—”
    Dog cut that off with a bark.
    “Well, shit,” Ad said, putting the lid on the box down. “No doughnuts for you.”
    Crossing his arms over his chest, he pouted and didn’t give a **** if that made him an asshole.
    “Please,” Eddie implored. “Not Lassiter. Anybody but Lassiter—he could be anywhere on the planet, doing anything.”
    Dog just leveled his eyes at the two of them.
    “Can we take the weekend off, at least?” Ad muttered.
    “As opposed to what?” Jim said from the doorway.
    As the savior came into the room, he was freshly showered and for once didn’t have massive black circles under his eyes. In fact, he actually looked about a quarter of a century younger than he had the night before—but that was what twelve hours of good loving could do for a guy.
    Ad should know.
    Dog leaped off the table and into Jim’s arms, tail going a mile a minute, tongue licking, looking every bit the canine showing adoration. And Jim returned the shit, ducking his head, talking softly, petting.
    When Jim put him down, the two stared at each other for the longest time, and then Dog let out a soft whine … before turning around and heading for the door as if he’d said a difficult good-bye.
    On his way past, the SOB glanced at him and Eddie as if to say, Chop, chop, boys … go get me that fool I just burned into the table.
    With Dog gone, Ad traced the face. The lines that had been made were still hot.
    “Who is that?” Jim asked.
    “A nightmare,” Ad muttered.
    “Our next assignment,” Eddie cut in.
    “That fast? Really? Don’t you get some vacation or shit?”
    Ad nodded to the box he’d closed. “We get doughnuts. Yay.”
    The description of Davina's book sounds exactly like the book that is currently in Throe's possession and I don't know why the shadow army couldn't be her minions. Having said that, WARDen has a lot of 'splaining to do like how it got in the case at the sanctuary in the first place. After Davina ended up in the hell hole could the creator have given it to the SV for safe keeping?
    I love the description of the kind of man Devina wants ; sick and twisted, traditional values, a nice bank account, and a sense of humor....and can go hours in the sack. Sounds like she just ordered up Lash to me!
    Perhaps the Angels were tasked to find Lassiter to inform him of his promotion cause he seems to be doing his job and keeping his nose clean.
    Is it weird that the "creators" are hanging around in the guise of pets? Was she in Boo right at the start when Wrath came to visit Beth, I wonder? I suppose a pet makes a good spy. Who would suspect a thing?
    I so agree with you on that one. She is obviously describing our Lash, as to when he is going to make an appearance is anyone's guess.
    I do not think so. My feeling is the creators or whoever is in charge knows there is or will be a new threat growing in the east where Lassiter is located and all the help will be needed.
    By the way, I saw on FB that the next BDB book will be called The Savior and it is the story of Murdher. I notice she did not say who or if there is going to be an HEA. Hopefully, we can get our hands on the script later.
    Did Ms. Ward do another one of her famous Q & A sessions in Cincinati?
    Answered my own question by going to her FB page. I read the transcript of the Q & A and boy, was I wrong about certain things. She did confirm the book is connected with Davina and we'll be seeing more or her. She dangles the carrot once more concerning Lash. Jo Early with be paired with Sin NOT Murdher. Damn. Sounds to me like she's taking the series way off the chart, incorporating the characters from her Angel series and short stories (Ivey and Silas, not Michael unfortunately) into the BDB series. Guess there's not enough excitement anymore just fighting the Lessers. Also introducing a new species, the Wolfen? Really? And she's talking about changing her mind about things she spoke of never happening as maybe they are now. Not entirely happy with everything I read but hey, it's her series, lol. Do you want me to paste the transcript here under a spoiler tag?
    She also says she wants to fold the legacy series into the BDB world. Maybe. The reason she gives is that it costs fans too much money to purchase two hardcovers a year. I would think that would be our choice, not so? Besides, the majority of us invest in the kindle version, so I really do not understand what this is all about. Sounds to me there are other reasons. The thing is, the legacy series tidy many of us over until the BDB releases, now it may be taken away, and replace by firemen. Raise your hand if you are interested... Not!
    Not interested either....I don't care how long their hoses are!!!!
    What happened to her Bourbon Kings? Not doing so well? How many series can she tackle at once?
    As far as two hard covers a year, pfft. I get mine from the library and then down load from ibooks or wait to add until the mass market paperbook becomes available which is rather quick. The very first Legacy book was released in paperback so why in hell the editors decided to go hard cover is simple greed. Apparently it sold so well they had cash signs in front of their eyes. The only other reason to meld the two series is that she's run out of candidates to pair. Only one left I believe still to get an HEA...is it Boone? F**k firemen and just give us two BDB books a year. I agree, the readers will decide if they want to buy them or not. If they're good, they will or find some other way to read them.
