Yeah Beth did kind of look like she'd done this before, what a lush she is!

Or perhaps at some point down the line, we learn that it was not her first time and that she was maybe a little bit of a closet alcoholic because of her Daddy. We have already seen and learned from things that happened in 4a that were answered in 4b (Daryl and his backstory, Michonne and the baby, why Beth wasn't crying over losing her boyfriend etc).

Moonshine isn't really magical or anything. Its basically any other whisky you would ever drink take something with sugars in it, make the sugars "accessible" to your yeast. and wait, and get booze, then you distill it to get a high proof product.

the big thing about moonshine is that its usually at least and often over 100 proof , and there is almost never any "aging for mellowness" done to it ..

the high proof makes it harsh, and the lack of any barrel aging adds to the harshness. often its mixed with fruit to combat that.
I've had some moon shine, but not any "really smooth" shine ...

unless someone teaches you the breathing trick , a big gulp of high proof anything is likely to give you a noticable head shake reaction.. i've had some smoother scotches , and a Rye that were super duper smooth.

but it boils down to either her character has been a secret lush in the ZA world, while living in the prison ... (not likely at all)

or her acting performance was a bit weak , Just in the area of her acting drunk, and a proper reaction after a sip / gulp of shine.

I still can't get over how dumb it was to burn down the cottage and to burn all the shine.

    Cottage was a good shelter.

alcohol of that high of proof has medical uses (cleaning out wounds)
also it could be used to keep drinking water safe, (making like a 1% solution) and it would kill some of the pathogens in water ...
I'd rather boil my water and let it chill back down, or distill the water itself.

speaking of which, if that hermit made his own moonshine, his still would rock for making drinking water.

IMO, having had both, most moonshine is terrible, but potent, and peach schnapps is saccharine-sweet and awful, but put in to "girlie" drinks.

You want a good drink to try? IMO try a gin and tonic. Kind of like a bitter 7-up with pleasing side effects :)

No, tha'ts why, the hut where they found the moonshine was the hut of a distiller, hence it was the location of a moonshine still.
