That was quite a long speech, lol.

Rick: "Give me a minute to catch my breath. I've got a lot to say, and my head's still spinning from that fall I took off the tier."

Yeah, but with all the porno music in the background how could he hear himself think?

    Michonne: "Sup'"

    Tyreechonne! "Bow-chicka-bow-wow!"

Allen "They're your problem now... That one bites."

    Carol: "Nobody loves meeeeeee!"

Axel: "I feel ya, but I don't feel my hair!"

    Lori: "I'm not a bitch, am I?"

Dale: "I may be old and set in my ways, but at least I didn't loose a leg like Allan."

Andrew: "I'll take my chances out here."

    Dexter: "Who's house? -- OK, it's yours."

Rick: "Oh yeah, by the way..."

Loved this issue, the introduction of Michonne was just the start of one of the best volumes since the last volume. Shades of things to come and lots of "getting to know." moments. But as before, seems to just be setup for the Governor. Interesting that I never realized how long they foreshadowed his introduction. If they did all of this the way it was written, we would still be watching these arcs and nowhere near the fall of the prison as in the TV show.

    Praise be to TV!

I'm a little surprised that they didn't use it yet. It is very central to what the prison arc (and who they were) was.

    Some thoughts about this one:

    • Do you think there are shades of comic Rick’s speech in TV show Governor’s credo? Rick: “‘You kill — you die.’ That was probably the most naive thing I’ve ever said. The fact is — in most cases, now, the way things are — you kill — you live.” Governor: “In this life now, you kill, or you die. Or you die and you kill.” (I haven’t read the novels, so I don’t know if the Governor says something similar there.)
    • Michonne! I love the way she was introduced — so badass. Gotta love how Otis was supposed to be going back to the cart to get some guns while she held the walkers off, and then he hid behind the cart and let her fight them all. He is such a piece of crap.
    • I still don’t understand why Patricia helps Dexter and Andrew to get the guns, after her attempt to help Thomas goes so horribly wrong. Is she just thick?
    • Those panels where the walker gets his guts caught on the skeleton and he falls are the best. They were some much-needed comic relief. These last two volumes have been intense.

Sorry am so late posting for this volume. I am trying to catch up as fast as I can.
I liked this volume. I like how they introduced michonne. Rick did have a long speech at the end of this volume. I liked the volume I just don't really know what to say about it right now.
But I will read volume 5 and try to thank of something to post about it.

Nail on the head! Patricia was a real piece of something else in the comic, preferring to follow blindly any male other than Otis. She sold the entire group out more than once, and if she was another male... POP! Back of the head. She was the enemy after Shane as far as I was concerned. She was not tricked into following these guys, she sought them out and gave them whatever they asked for no other reason than her selfish wants. Man, to hell with that noise. I would have lined up her and Dexter's heads up when Rick made that shot, but I understand that time was a factor.

I'd rather follow anyone other than Otis, too -- he's such a dick! -- but the better alternative would be to think for one's self. ;) Yeah, I guess Patricia was simply wrong in the head. You're right, it is surprising that they didn't banish her, just ostracized her, and maybe if she were a guy she would have been considered a more serious threat.

When Rick returned the Greene farm, Hershel mentioned that Otis and Patricia split up, and she took it very hard. Otis seemed like a clumsy, but decent guy when Rick's group moved onto the farm, but in private, he was verbally abusive to Patricia, and a racist.

Maybe the two prisoners said a few kind words to Patricia and she bought their lie: let us out of this cell and we promise your friends won't be hurt.

When she let Thomas out, that made sense, though I personally didn’t agree with it. She was shocked and horrified when Rick beat him to a pulp, and she didn’t want to see him hang. But then after he turned on her, she should have learned from that.

Yes, Otis is a racist and a coward, and he did seem emotionally abusive toward her -- first he berates her for what she did, then he acts as if he has sympathy for her when really it seems that he’s gloating about her being alone -- so I can understand her being fragile and easily manipulated. But from Rick and the others’ point of view, she’s a loose cannon. No matter how much sympathy one might have for her, she’s dangerous to be around.

Yes, when Dexter first pulls the gun out, Patricia says, "You said you wouldn't kill them! You said you'd just make them leave!" so they did lie to her, and were likely kind to her and made her some promises about how they'd kick Rick and co. out and all live happily ever after together. But that's what makes her seem a bit thick to me, though, that she'd believe this fairy tale.

After talking through it, I do understand why she did it now, thanks. It's just frustrating. She nearly got even more people killed -- twice!
