Ohhhh this might prove to be a fun watch. I was quite skeptical when news of a third series broke. So I am pleasantly surprised and will definitely give this one a watch

A jump into the future with an all new cast. Hopefully an exciting location. Seeing the world through the eyes of now young adults who only know the world post Apocalypse

Matthew Negrete has been with the series for quite some time. He has written three episodes for season 9; What Comes After (episode 5); Bounty (episode 11) and The Storm (episode 16).

Angela Kang has been with the franchise since season 2 and she has done an amazing job with season 9 of TWD.

The flip side of that is the two showrunners for FTWD had no working background with the franchise until they were brought on in season 4 - and we all saw how that turned out!

The lesson learned here is that it pays to promote from within. Let's hope that rings true for Matthew Negrete.

Kind of interesting they are filming in Virginia. My guess is it won't be set in Virginia, considering our tried and true heroes have all but taken that state over.

A do hope that when they say "young females", we are not talking about teenagers. I'd be less than enthusiastic about The Walking Dead: Saved By The Bell addition. But if they are 'coming-of-age' in the apocalypse, and it is set somewhere near the main show's timeline, or slightly in the future, we could be dealing with anyone from Lydia's to perhaps early to mid 20's?

I'm staying optimistic, and this seems like pretty exciting news.

I missed the news about filming in Virginia. LOL, maybe it will be set in Georgia!

My first thought was "oh no not a CW version of TWD". I tend to think the protagonist will be in their early to mid 20's. Which would mean they would be about the same age that TV Carl (assuming his age in TWD was around 15) would have been if he had lived to see season 9B. If they push the series a bit more into the future from where we left season 9 they could be more in their mid to late 20s

2019 is going to be a busy year!!

May 2019 season 10 will begin filming

Summer 2019 the third series will begin production

And did we get news that the first Rick movie will begin filming sometime in 2019?

And then if Fear gets renewed for season 6 they will begin production in late fall of 2019

@Tony Davis will the forum develop separate sections (like FTWD has) for The Rick Trilogy movies and now this third series?

If I ask nicely and say pretty please can you make this happen?

Because it would be easier to follow filming updates, cast updates, spoilers for those interested, etc.

Another articles stated it will explore a "new corner" of the world. Rural Virginia could pass for rural New York, so I've got my hopes on it being set right in my neck of the woods :p

If I'm walking, its about 20 days. If I roll there in a potato sack its close to a year, if I have a compass. Driving, around 6 hours or so from Manhattan. I'm in western NY, almost as far west as you can go. Opposite side of the city.

This could be really interesting, if it isn't Riverdale meets the ZA. I guess I've gotten to that age. I've caught myself saying.. they call THAT music...and...we didn't pull that crap when I was that age. In other words, old. Teenagers can really get on my nerves on TV shows.
I do love Lydia and Judith, so there's hope.
If they aren't a bunch of Henry's and Gabe's. I think that was the Hilltop kid's name.
Interesting perspective, though. If that world is all that you know, you'll handle it differently. Perfect example is Judith.
I hope that it's set in the Northeast. My part of the country.
Filming in Virginia, they wouldn't have to manufacture the snow.
    Looking forward to this. :)

What is the general consensus of the definition of ''first generation''?
To me, one has to be born after ZA or younger than 1 year old on day 1. So, Carl or Enid or Lydia do not really belong the first generation. In the current series, characters like Judith or Gracie or RJ will do.

It says ''two young female protagonists''. If ''young '' means the character age is mid 20's, and let's say Judith is about 9-10 years old now, then it means this future is about 15 years from now. This also means the generation of Carol/Daryl...etc is still around.

I hope this will take place in an urban environment, just to get a change from the rural setting. It is only 10-episode long and so it is feasible.

I agree that first generation would be the Judiths, Gracies and RJs of the world

I think the 'first generation' would be anyone who grew up and came of age in the ZA, and has no real concept of the details of the life before, even if they have vague memories of it. So someone who was a child of 5 or 6 years old when the ZA broke out would still be first generation. Carl might have been too old by a couple of years, since he had more intricate memories of pre ZA life.
