NOTE: ALL OF THE FOLLOWING POSTS WILL BE EDITED, REVISED, AND ADDED TO AS MORE INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE. REMEMBER TO CHECK OUT THE OLD POSTS AS WELL AS THE NEW ONES, AS THEY WILL BE CHANGING, TOO.

    MAIN CHARACTERS' PERSONAL WEAPONS:

First things first, the most unique weapon on the show:

Daryl uses a Horton® Scout HD™ 125 crossbow (and so can you, for about $300-500)

    Now, on with the guns.

Andrea started the series with a Smith & Wesson 3913LS "Ladysmith" ; her father gave it to her before she and Amy set out on their ill-fated road trip. The Ladysmith is a line of S & W handguns designed for people with small hands. The 3913LS is unlike other Ladysmiths in that it lacks the "Ladysmith" logo; this was done because men with small hands were reluctant to use a gun that said "Ladysmith" in big letters down the side of the barrel. In season 2, however, Shane convinces her to switch to the Beretta 92FS Rick found in the tank (see below); he tells her the Beretta has better balance and double the ammo of the Ladysmith.

Rick carries a Colt Python with a 6" barrel, chambered in .357 magnum

Probably the purtiest gun on the show, imho.

Shane carries a law-enforcement/tactical model of a Mossberg 590 12-gauge shotgun with extended magazine tube and collapsible pistol-grip stock.

Shane and his 12 gauge girlfriend have been dating since before the zombie apocalypse began, too.

Shane also wears a Glock 17 on his hip.

Dale SEEMS to carry a Ruger M77 Hawkeye rifle. This appears to have become the default rifle used by the guard-on-duty. Whoever is on top of the RV carries it, and Andrea used it to shoot Daryl.

That pretty much covers all the lead characters' 'main' weapons. However, there is a large arsenal of guns which are rarely seen or seem to be shared by the whole group.

    SHARED/GROUP HANDGUNS:

In the first episode, when Rick gets trapped in the tank, he searches the zombie soldier inside and finds a Beretta 92FS; he uses it to escape, and when it is empty, he puts it in Glenn's backpack. In season 2, Daryl and Andrea each carry this gun at different points. However, after Shane's recommendation (based on balance and capacity, as mentioned above), Andrea seems to have more or less adopted this one as her own.

In the "Vatos" episode, before going to the Vatos' hideout, Rick loads a SIG Sauer P226.

Merle Dixon holds T-Dawg at gunpoint in episode 2, using a Browning Hi-Power with adjustable sights; Rick clobbers Merle, takes the gun, and later uses it during the zombie-guts stealth mission.

In the first episode of season 2, Daryl finds a Colt Detective Special in a dead camper's tent. He gives it to Lori; Lori gives it to Andrea, who gives it back to Lori.

When Morales and his family leave the group near the end of the first season, Rick gives him a Colt Trooper .357.

The group leaves Jim to die by the side of the road in season 1; before they go, Rick offers him a Smith & Wesson Model 10. Jim refuses.

Aside from the one Shane carries on his hip (when he is allowed), there is also at least one Glock 17 in Rick's bag, which Daryl carries in Vatos. Later, T-Dawg is seen with it several times as well, and uses it during the big shootout in front of the barn (see next page)

    SHARED/GROUP SHOTGUNS:

Among the 6 shotguns Rick looted... I mean, borrowed... from the police station were 2 Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotguns. Rick used one the second time they went to the Vatos' hideout; he later gave it to "G", the Vatos leader. "It is believed" that a DELETED scene in the first episode of season 2 showed them going back to the Vatos' hideout, finding it overrun, and retrieving the weapons they'd given the Vatos. Either that or they had more than one, because Glenn is carrying one when he first gets to the farm. When they return to the camp during the zombie attack, Glenn is carrying a second Mossberg 500, this one the "Persuader" model.

Rick's magic bag also contained 2 different Remington 870 12 gauge shotguns. One, carried by T-Dawg in the Vatos stand-off, and later by Glenn in the season 2 premiere, has a black synthetic stock. The other, carried by Daryl throughout season 1, is a "Wingmaster" model with a walnut stock; Daryl used this gun in both the major battles of the show so far - the campsite attack and the barn shootout.

Remington 870 Wingmaster (Daryl uses this, or at least carries it, frequently)

The last shotgun from Rick's bag is a Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Compact 20 gauge; Rick carries it frequently in season 1, after giving the Mossberg to "G".

    SHARED/GROUP RIFLES:

When we first meet him (in episode 2) Merle is firing a Winchester Model 70 rifle from the roof of the department store. He clobbers T-Dawg with the butt of the gun before Rick intervenes and gives the rifle to T-Dawg.

Otis carries - er... carried - a Remington 700 BDL. Coincidentally, this is the same model of rifle Rick gives Morgan in the series debut.

During the first confrontation at the Vatos' hideout, T-Dawg is hidden on a nearby rooftop with a Browning BAR Safari rifle.

AND OF COURSE... In the season 1 finale, Rick uses an M67 Hand Grenade to escape the CDC. Technically, the blue paint on the handle means it is a training (dummy, non-explosive) version, called an M69. We have to ignore the blue handle, because clearly it did explode.

According to the experts at IMFDB.org, the blue paint on the handle means it is an inert (non-explosive) training grenade.

An alarming footnote to all this - among the heavy automatic weapons scattered around the abandoned military post outside the CDC was a DShK HMG. That there is one of them SOVIET weapons.

    RICK'S MAGIC BAG:

Before he went back to the city to get the bag, Rick told Shane it contained "6 shotguns, 2 high-powered rifles, and over a dozen handguns" as well as 700 rounds of assorted ammunition.

    This includes (among others):

Shotguns: "6 Shotguns", according to Rick - assuming the anonymous shotgun is the same weight as all the others (roughly 7.5 lbs), Rick is carrying 45 lbs in shotguns alone.

Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Compact
    Mossberg 500 x2
    Remington 870 x2
    One shotgun unaccounted for?

Rifles: "2 high powered rifles" - most high-powered rifles weigh about what the BAR Safari does, 7-7.5 lbs; lets say Rick is carrying 15 lbs worth of rifles.

    Browning BAR Safari
    One rifle unaccounted for?

Handguns: "more than a dozen handguns" - adding the total weight of the guns we have seen to an estimate for the total weight of the others (assuming they weigh a bit less than 2 lbs, the average weight of the guns we've seen), my estimate is that if "more than a dozen" means "13", then Rick has almost 26 lbs of handguns in his bag.

Glock 17 (possibly more than one)
    SIG-Sauer P226
    Smith & Wesson Model 10
    Colt Trooper
1 mystery pistol held by Daryl at the big Vatos standoff (see below)
1 mystery revolver held by Lori at the shooting range in "Secrets" (see below)
At least 5-6 handguns unaccounted for?

Altogether, that is 45 lbs of shotguns, 15 lbs of rifles, and 26 lbs of handguns, for a total of 86 POUNDS of guns. But WAIT!

There is still the weight of "700 rounds, assorted [ammo]" to be considered. It is mind-bogglingly difficult to get someone who knows guns to describe bullet weights in any unit of mesasurement other than "grains" (1 gram = 15.4 grains = 0.04 oz), and then they make it impossible to tell if that weight includes the casing and the projectile or just weight of the gunpowder charge. Still, the best I can figure, on average, a box of 50 9mm rounds (9x19mm parabellum rounds, technically) weighs about 1 lbs. A box of 10 shells of 12 gauge #1 (16 pellets) buckshot weighs about 1 1/4 lbs. 50 rounds of .357 mag also weighs about 1 lbs. A box of 20 rounds of .30-06 weighs a half a pound.

    Lets say, for arguement's sake, that Rick had 100 shotgun shells (13 lbs), 300 9mm rounds (6 lbs), 200 .357 rounds (4 lbs), and 100 .30-06 rounds (2 1/2 lbs) - almost 26 lbs of ammo...

GRAND TOTAL: 112 POUNDS OF GUNS AND AMMO IN RICK'S BAG. So Daryl gets a flesh wound (if the arrow had caused anything more than a flesh wound, he'd either be dying, dead, or undergoing major surgery) and a week later, he can't move a saddle without straining himself; but Rick wakes up after a 2 month long coma and immediately begins running marathons with over a hundred pounds of bulky, clanking steel on his back.

The Magical Mystery Pistol (in Daryl's waistband): Possibly a Beretta, but unclear.

The Magical Mystery Revolver* (in Lori's hand): Note barrel length distinguishes it from most of the revolvers we've seen so far.

No, I gleaned from the web for most of it. After I got all the 'main' guns, I stumbled across this and realized how much time and effort I'd wasted.

Anyone know what type of knife Daryl carries? And don't say the sharp type! :)

NOTE: Andrea has apparently traded her Ladysmith for the Beretta 92FS Rick found in the tank.

The big barn shootout - Who used what?

Shane is using his own Glock 17, and T-Dawg is using the Glock 17 from Rick's bag. Andrea has the Beretta 92FS Rick found in the tank. Glenn has the Mossberg 500 with extended magazine tube. The first weapon out of the bag is the Remington 870 Wingmaster shotgun with wood furniture, and as usual, it goes to Daryl. He hasn't fired it since the campground attack in season 1.

Carl's gun (when he is allowed to carry it) is a Charter Arms Bulldog Pug.
