I hope they give them names like the Momma has. Daddy is still M-15, but I have been calling him Clark, as in Clark Gable. He has the same scorn look, that Gable had in Gone With the Wind.

They just zoomed in on the 2nd egg, and there is a tiny hole. You could see movement. It is still viable. YEA!!!! They expect it to hatch late tomorrow or Monday

Thanks for the close-ups! The baby looks like a living dandelion! I never would have guessed!

I just got to see Harriet feeding her baby!!! Sorry, I don't know how to do that picture-grab thing. Finally the baby got so excited from eating, it did a face plant, and Harriet snuggled it up and settled down to warm it up again. She didn't roll the other egg around, but I see little pips.

Sorry to say, but it is looking like the other egg will not hatch. It was the first egg to be laid, and it has now been 41 days. They hatch anywhere between 35 to 39 days. Looks like E -9 will be an only child.

Sad, but from what I saw Harriet wasn't showing any interest in it, so I figured. Came so close. Very sad. Thanks for the official word.

    Not
Not official. Just saw in the chat, where one of the mods said this. She said she will give it to tomorrow.

:( Sad. I'm happy they got one to hatch but it's still heartbreaking to see her sitting on the other egg. I wonder what they'll do with it. Someone in the comments section said they typically push it to the side and ignore it, but sometimes they'll push it over the edge or eat it to regain the nutrients.

Not really related, but when i was in 5th grade my dog had puppies. The very first one was stillborn and before any of us could stop her my dog started eating it. I guess it's pretty natural but it was quite the lesson in nature for me and my younger siblings lolol.

I've seen documentaries where the first-born bird will push the other eggs out of the nest. Nature be hard.

First born syndrome! Like i always ask my parents - why didn't they just stop at perfection? ;-P I could have been so spoiled, but nooooo.
