Didn't they kill that big prisoner because he was scratched by a walker, not bit? I haven't seen the episode in a long time so my memory very well could be wrong but I thought he wasn't bit.

 

He was bit like on the back shoulder and it was impossible for them to save him, so Tomas just fugged him up.

 

If it's the big prisoner I'm thinking about, he had a bit to the side of the neck that was irreparable. He was trying to talk them out of killing him because he said he was so big it wasn't affecting him (although we all know it would've eventually).

I suspended disbelief a long time ago about the blood contamination possibility because I was constantly grossed out by how much they were getting in their mouths and on their skin.
