Agreed. I wanted to like it so much, because I thought the premise was really scary and somewhat original. I'd just seen Cannibal Holocaust, and the "found footage" genre hadn't been done to death yet back then. So I ran out to the theatre to see it when it opened.

The whole time, I was so on edge because it seemed as if something bad was going to happen. They were going to find the Blair Witch, and it was going to be scary, right? ;)

The ending actually creeped me out a lot, and that scene still sticks in my mind. I've always been uneasy in dark basements. When the characters decided to go down there, I was on the edge of my seat! And then...

I didn't mind the ambiguity of the ending. I don't need to have everything neatly tied up at the end, and many times it's better left to the imagination, imo. (My boyfriend at the time was raging about it, though. lol) But combined with the fact that nothing substantial happened over the entire movie...yeah, my feeling overall was frustration. :zombies_nosmile:

I tried very hard to watch The Blair Witch Project when it came on a premium cable channel un-edited, it was one of the most disappointing movies I ever saw, I don't even think I made to the end. That's how much of a impact it made on me, I cant remember whether I turned it off or not.

The movie that started it all for me was Them! I lived for Fear Theater on Sunday afternoons. Cheesy, low budget but at the time the best chills and thrills you could have! I grew up on the likes of Twilight Zone and still get goosebumps when I hear the theme. There are too many to name that I love but the ones I remember best for whatever reason are as follows:

Soylent Green
Creature from Black Lagoon
The Thing (original and remake)
Alien
Aliens
Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2
Wrong Turn
Blade Trilogy
It
Nightmare on Elm Street
Halloween
Poltergeist
and the list could go on and on and on....

Holy Cow frawniemae I forgot to add Soylent Green, Alien, Aliens and the Blade Trilogy to my list.
Have you ever seen 1971's "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston? That was another good Sci-Fi Horror classic.

No, but I'll have to see about finding the whole movie (just watched the trailer on youtube). Charlton was "The Man" back in the day!

frawniemae The Omega Man was remade in 2007 and called "I Am Legend" with Will Smith. The original "The Omega Man" was a better movie imo because Charlton Heston WAS THE MAN back in the day just like you said. :)
R.I.P. Charlton Heston

The Last Man on Earth

This was the precursor to Omega Man from 1964 with Vincent Price. A really good zombie-esque / vampire film even before the '68 NOTLD.

I Am Legend is an awesome movie! It was really well done. And as I watched the trailer for OM I was thinking that it had a lot of similarities to several movies; almost as if it was the precursor to twd, even.

Most horror movies are forgettable for me, but the scariest horror movie I've seen has to be The Exorcist. There is just something about it, but I figure it is mostly because I saw it at a very young age for the first time. Favorite has to be Silent Hill, mainly because I love how close they kept it to the original game. The atmosphere is there and the story is pretty good for a Video Game Movie.

Killjoy the clown is scary he is remorseless and psycho I thought. It is real scary, you the clown who eats children when he wakes from slumber, interesting teenagers are able to defeat him. Hellraiser was scary, and kirsty cotton as the heroine fighting pinhead the creepy guy. Chucky is a creepy doll and scary dude, remorseless and scared me when I was a child, even my friends were scared of him in dreams.

Jaws
Open Water
Pet Semetary
Children of the corn
It
Saw (the original one, wish they'd spared us the rest)
Funny Games (only seen US version a couple of years back by accident, disturbed the feck out of me)
Shining
Wrong Turn
Mike Mendez' Killers (unfortunately not available here anymore)
Rec
Eraserhead (if that counts)
Omen

Movies I like but consider more funny rather than creepy: Child's Play, Lost Boys, They Live!

Is From Dusk Till Dawn considered Horror? If so that's most definitely on the list.

For me I would take the classics, the original Dracula, Frankenstein and Wolfman movies. That's not to say that in recent years there haven't been some good horror films. I think one of the reasons why the low budge Paranormal Activity became such a huge hit was because it was more about the fear factor and not about who going to get it with a hack saw next. I am not a fan of the slasher films, these to me get old fast. Its like here are a bunch of people who will be the next one to get offed, odds are its the one left alone or going off alone. Seriously, why do people do this in these films they are just asking for trouble. No, for me I want a good movie that tells a story that goes with the element of horror.
