All 4 Screams. I've kind of grown out of them but still appreciate the series. Desperately need to see the Evil Dead films.

I grew up on the old ones , they were more scary without all the special effects.
Karloff, Vincent Price, and Lon Chaney was the best
Bella Lagosi . best Dracula ever

I tend to like the poppy horror stuff, Alien franchise, Insidious franchise, Conjuring (franchise to be)

classics like Exorcist, Jaws, the original Halloween.

I grew to love Italian horror (Argento, Bava etc.)

And for most of my youth was obsessed with Sci fi horror (event horizon, the thing, I am legend, Omega man)

If I was pressed to pick 5 favorites off the top of my head right now I'd go:

    1: The Thing (1982)
    2: Alien
    3: The Exorcist
    4: Jaws
    5: The Evil Dead 2

    Top 3:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2- I was a chop top fan since before the interwebs.
The Last Man on Earth - Vincent Price film where the fear of loneliness outways the zombies.
Original Blair Witch - long story but it has its place in my black little heart.

There are a lot. Demons (1985) gave me nightmares...especially the second one where the demon came out of the television.
Also movies I already mentioned in other threads.

I guess it depends what you consider horror.

    Videodrome
    Amer
    Funny Games
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (78)
    Antichrist
    Images
    Don't Look Now
The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears
Valerie and her Week of Wonders
    Berberian Sound Studio
    Nightbreed
    Benny's Video
    La belle captive

Are all extraordinary films with horror elements.

More traditionnal horror films that I love include:

    The Shining
    Amityville II: The Possession
    The Haunting
    Hellraiser
    Rosemary's Baby
    Dawn of the Dead
    ... and so many more

Add to that a few Brian DePalma and Dario Argento films that I don't really know where to fit.

Have you seen all adaptions of The Body Snatchers? Which one did you like most?

Don't Look Now and Body Snatchers are both with Donald Sutherland? Are you a fan?

    I've seen all 4 adaptations.

    1978: 10/10
    1993: 7/10
    1956: 6/10
    2007: 5/10

They all have different qualities, but the 1978 film is a masterpiece. I'm not particularly a fan of Sutherland, but these two films (and Klute) are la crème de la crème.

    I only know 3 of them. I didn't know there's one from 2007. Thanks!
