So if you go to www.isidewith.com and answer a bunch of questions that they have listed for you, it will generate a list of which parties you most closely identify with based on your answers.

    These were my results:

Before you go calling me a socialist hippie, let me just say... I could have told you that. And no, I don't think that money grows on trees or that we can pull policies out of our asses, but I am willing to pay more here and there and share what I have to help the greater good. I would never deny services to children based on their parents' mistakes or faults, and I would never want a hard working, non-violent immigrant to be deported because he/she took the easy route. I was lucky enough to be born in this country, but that does not make me better than those who seek the same opportunities and safeties that I have.

Anywho, how did your results turn out? Was it what you expected?

I ended up agreeing with the Democrats 78% and the Republicans 78%. Which was not a surprise to me, since I consider myself an independent. It's clown to the left of me, jokers to the right.

    No surprises here:

    although, I'd say I'm more of a conservative-sided libertarian than a straight-up republican.

I never paid attention to him too much so I can't honestly say.

Id happily take Rubio, though. And I do like Ben Carson.

Santorum's a crazy bible thumper who would turn our country into a theocracy if he could lol. But I can't hold it against you, because my results showed me agreeing with Mike Huckabee 60% of the time. How can that be???? lol. My closest match was Bernie Sanders, which surprised me as well. I think part of the problem is that for many questions I didn't really agree with ANY of the answers, so I just had to pick one.

Don't feel bad about scoring high in the socialism section, as those tabulations are always biased. Don't let conservative republicans fool you, they also want big government, just in different areas. They want the government to control medical research, especially if it relates to something like stem cells or other moral issues, they want the government to control who can get married [now THAT is big government], they want the government to control abortions, and so on. Their motto of 'small government' is one of the biggest self delusions in politics. They only want it small in areas that benefit them. All parties have some self delusion going on, but this is one of the major ones.

Having said that, I scored 84% Democrat, and 53% Republican. So I guess I'm not quite as left leaning as many think. :p. At least not fiscally.

Ahh, so that's probably where we differ on issues the most. This is why I'll be poor all my life.

like I told Neuro, I honestly don't know that much about most of them. But i am happy Rubio was at the top of the list. I like him.

    Love you too.

I also had Bernie Sanders as a top match but at this point I really know nothing about him. He'd have to really win me over, and my god he's ancient. :/

I don't trust Rubio. I think he's a closet bigot. He talks a good game, if you're willing to listen, but his record doesn't back it. He really has no tax or economic plan, and he calls himself a fan of science, yet he continually votes 'no' for funding of stem cell research. I think Rubio is a textbook manipulative politician. Are there any politicians who aren't'? :p

I definitely don't like the sound of Rubio. Yes, most politicians make my skin crawl, but he's one of the worst.

But I agree, I wish a band of us could move to the moon together. :p

I have no idea who Rubio is, but he must at least be better than Trump, right?

I agree that all politicians are manipulative. But I at least like the sound of his manipulation. I agree with most of what I've heard about him-- which, admittedly, isn't much, because most of the time politics brings out the true idiotic nature of humans and makes me want to renounce my citizenship. Of earth.

edit: I see you responded to my original post. It was originally a double post which I deleted. This one sounds better, so I'm keeping it.

Earlier tonite a clock fell off the wall of my living room, and smashed into pieces. I would sooner vote for the remains of this clock than Trump. :p

Almost everyone, up to and including Johnny Knoxville, would be better than Trump.

But did those remains of the clock convince a Chinese guy to buy an apartment? That's really important to become President now for some reason.

Politics, I think, are a necessary evil. I look at things this way: Economically, both Republicans and Democrats have some good ideas. And they both have bad ideas. If they would just shut the f*ck up and communicate with each other, they could actually do some good. When it comes to fiscal issues, I think they are about equal.

So that leaves us with social issues. Stem cell research, gay marriage, abortion rights.... Once we understand that both parties just need to work together to keep our country going....why not side with the ones who understand that our government should not control who should marry, or who should benefit from stem cell research? Why would anyone identify otherwise? Its time to leave bigotry behind.

When you really think about it, I guess I don't really totally agree with or trust anyone enough to say I'd be happy with them leading the country. And anyone I do agree with has probably said or done things which would make their becoming elected to public office very unlikely. So, I guess I'm a conservalibertanarchist-- no real party affiliation, I vote for the candidates who agree with me on the oddball select few issues i care about, and I have a negative view of anybody wearing a suit. Or anything with long sleeves, for that matter.
