    Well, then, what the f-ing hell?? My local advertisers? Seriously? :mad: I'm a few towns over from Berkeley, the modern home of Free Speech. I got a garbled noise, and I had Closed Captions on and it wasn't there. I wonder if it is garbled throughout the Pacific Time Zone? Hawaii? Alaska? Utah?

    Hell even Beto lets the F bomb fly every once in awhile.

    It has pretty much become a watered down cuss word much like shit or asshole

    We can create new words with our prefixes and suffixes, but we don't have infixes as some languages do. The f word inserted between two other words is the closest thing we have to an infix. I think the infix fun is part of its recent jump in popularity.

    LOL. As a syllable infix, it would be "abso-****in'-lutely."


    It's very easy to include in words because it's prevalence and versatility have almost divorced it from grammar and imaginable meaning.

    If I say 'shit' you probably think I'm swearing, you don't picture actual shit. If I say '****' you think the same. If I say "This ****ing guy" you don't picture sex. If I say "This shitting guy", you probably have a very different image.

    Because **** is crazy adaptable, it makes a very convenient way to swear via infixing, without distracting your meaning with anything concrete.
