Yes, comparing your pic and the pic in the post above, I can see the pattern of the 4 dots of blood on Enid's left upper cheek match. So, they must have put makeup on their faces and then CGI the heads onto the pikes.

Hm. But on Talking Dead, Brett Butler described the process of having her mask made. They put some gooey stuff on her face and then the other stuff that hardens and made her feel claustrophobic. She asked the guy if anyone freaked out from this and he said, yes, one guy smacked his head into a wall. Supposedly Leonardo de Caprio. lol

Alanna posted a picture on instagram of her with her severed pike head.

Maybe they used both methods. Some heads are CGI transferred while some are gooey masks? Maybe some actors/actresses are claustrophobic and could not go through the process?

Oh, good idea. I think I would want a mask so I could take it home as a lovely parting gift. :)

I wonder if those masks would be given to the actors/actresses as a souvenir?

I think that the prosthetics were used for the shots from far distance, while the close ups might have been made with the real actors and then cgi.

Those are very nice severed heads, they just don't look much like the actors... The reveal of Henry's profile do look a lot like him though (best one for me), so I guess that was the actor and CGI.

Once you're dead, they wouldn't need it anymore, so I think Maybe. I suppose they might want to keep the wigs for reuse, though.

That head is better... What's funny is that they don't even care to make them match. The bandana's not right, the blood on her face's not right, she has her hear out but the prosthetic has it covered... Raoul Ruiz had a funny anecdote in one of his books about the time when he started making movies with american editors, how little they cared about continuity errors.

If you take two piked heads and have them face each other at close distance, what would happen?

    Would they kiss?

Would they hiss and chew on each other?

Would they turn their heads - can one turn one's head if the head is on a pike?

I got a real chuckle just now as I re-read the title to this post; "Why do severed heads never look like the person?"

Is coming across severed heads a common thing? @PepperAnn, it sounds like you have seen a LOT of severed heads to have come to this conclusion. I'm kinda thinking I don't want to be where you are. :D:D:p

(@PepperAnn , like I said, reading that just struck me as funny this am - I'm having fun with ya.)

LOL you never have to have a disclaimer with me. I enjoy the hell out of being teased and never get offended.

And to answer your question, I watch a lot of horror stuff. Never seen a real severed head.
