FTWD Snags Record Ratings For Debut
“Fear the Walking Dead” – the companion/spinoff series of “The Walking Dead” which debuted last night – put up some impressive ratings numbers for its series debut, snagging 10.1 million total viewers, of which fully 6.3 million fell into the desirable 18-49 demographic. Both of those numbers are the highest-ever for a show’s debut in cable network history. FTWD even beat its big brother as “The Walking Dead” had only 5.35 million total viewers [2.7 million in 18-49] for its debut in 2010. FTWD defeated an NFL pre-season game between St. Louis and Tennessee on Fox to claim its ratings victory for the evening.
The six-episode “season” of “Fear the Walking Dead” ends on October 4, 2015 [with “The Walking Dead” beginning its sixth season the following week] and a 15-episode second season for FTWD is being readied for 2016.
