Walking Dead Shooter Game Will Have E3 Presence
Overkill Software, developers of the video game shooter series PayDay, are currently working on a similar game — this one utilizing the Walking Dead license.
It’s still deep in construction and the title of the game has yet to be finalized (it’s currently being referred to as “Overkill’s The Walking Dead”), but Overkill’s parent company, Starbreeze, revealed today the game will show up in playable form at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. “The upcoming weeks will be fully focused on our setup and planning for the E3 Expo in Los Angeles and to make sure it’s the historical event we envision,” the company said. “With a significant presence, our ambition is to showcase both Payday 2 and Overkill’s The Walking Dead.”
If you’re familiar with PayDay, you should know what to expect from Overkill’s Walking Dead game. It will be a co-op experience involving action, roleplaying, a bit of survival horror and some stealth. Series creator Robert Kirkman has some involvement in the game’s development, which amounts to approval of game designs and characters from a lofty position. The game is a co-production between Overkill and Kirkman’s company Skybound Interactive.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead is currently scheduled for a 2016 release, on Playstation 4, XBox One and PC. E3 2015 will officially kick off June 14 with a series of press conferences, followed by the opening of the showfloor to the press on June 16.
