PAX East: First Titanfall DLC, 'Expedition' Announced, Details About Free New Modes
At its panel today at PAX East in Boston, Respawn Entertainment gave us our first details of the first DLC for Titanfall, as well as some news about the series going forward.
The initial DLC is called “Expedition,” and it’s coming in May. It will add three new maps: Runoff, Swamplands, and Wargames. This is how Respawn describes the storyline of the DLC on its site:
In the wake of the Battle of Demeter, IMC Expeditionary Forces travel deep into Frontier space to recover from their recent defeat. On an uncharted world, the IMC begin construction of a new fleet operations base, using newly acquired water collection and filtration plants to support the new base. When drainage operations reveal ancient ruins and artifacts of an unknown origin in a nearby swamp, Spyglass activates an archaeological team to investigate the site. To maintain battle readiness at the new base, IMC Pilots use simulation pods to train for anticipated Militia raids, based on lessons learned in Angel City and IMC Airbase Sierra.
Expedition is listed for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. It will retail for $9.99 and is the first of three planned content packs at that price. You can save five bucks by signing up for a $24.99 season pass, which includes all three.
According to Kotaku, Respawn also revealed that it had other free updates in the works for Titanfall fans. These include free new modes, including a two-on-two version of Last Titan Standing, new burn cards, a hashtag-based filtering system for private matches, Titan insignias, and competitive player stats.
One of the most interest upgrades proposed was the idea of “rifts.” These would be limited time tweaks or variants of existing modes.
