Respawn Previews War Games, a New Map in the Upcoming Expedition DLC
Respawn Entertainment has revealed the first details about the new maps in the upcoming Expedition DLC, previewing War Games, a simulator-themed map.
War Games is the one of the most wall-runningy maps yet, with Respawn describing it as a “parkour playground” in a blog post about the map by Titanfall Designer Jason McCord.
The concept of the map is a fight within a simulation of Angel City, Rise and Airbase Sierra, with their visual styles broken up by rooms in the style of the training rooms. It’ll even come complete with glitches to remind you you’re in a simulation.
The map will incorporate elements from the other maps, but all with significant twists and traps, like a risky narrow shortcut area where one can easily be trapped by Titans and a night view of Angel City. The colored forcefields from the training mission also make an appearance as wall-running panels, opening up more wall-running options. And there are clutter free areas for more epic Last Titan Standing battles.
Expedition is set to release in May. It will add three new maps: Runoff, Swamplands, and War Games. This is how Respawn describes the storyline of the DLC on its site:
In the wake of the Battle of Demeter, IMC Expeditionary Forces travel deep into Frontier space to recover from their recent defeat. On an uncharted world, the IMC begin construction of a new fleet operations base, using newly acquired water collection and filtration plants to support the new base. When drainage operations reveal ancient ruins and artifacts of an unknown origin in a nearby swamp, Spyglass activates an archaeological team to investigate the site. To maintain battle readiness at the new base, IMC Pilots use simulation pods to train for anticipated Militia raids, based on lessons learned in Angel City and IMC Airbase Sierra.
Expedition is listed for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. It will retail for $9.99 and is the first of three planned content packs at that price. You can save five bucks by signing up for a $24.99 season pass, which includes all three.
