Special Halo 5 Collectible Is Only For Army Soldiers

by on 11/03/2015

If you can find a Halo 5: Guardians box that has a specific label on it, you will get a special collectible coin inside the case with the game. BUT….you’ve gotta be serving in the US military to find that box in the first place. The version of the game that’s being sold at military exchanges contains the coin…and nowhere else.
At first glance it’s unclear what the motive might be behind the coins, other than 343 Industries showing their appreciation for our armed forces. But they’re actually part of a larger trend of collectibles called Challenge Coins which have been sold at PX stores for the past 25 years. Halo 5 is not the first video game to include a Challenge Coin; in recent history Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Destiny, Sunset Overdrive and Dead Rising 3 were all sold with coins.
If you’d like a Halo 5 coin but would prefer not to be shot at by ISIS, there’s an easier way to get one: eBay. The Halo 5 coin and other Challenge Coins are currently being sold at the auction site for prices that range from $33 to $99.
