Spooky New Game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is Out Sept. 25
Soon you’ll have a chance to get your hands on The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. It’s a very different type of horror game, one that values atmosphere and writing over frantic shooting.
Created by developers The Astronauts, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter puts you in the shoes of supernatural detective Paul Prospero, who gets a letter from the titular Ethan Carter, a young boy Prospero realizes is in a lot of trouble. Prospero heads to Red Creek Valley to find and save the boy, which will involve investigating numerous brutal murders with Prospero’s ability to communicate with the dead.
The Astronauts says that they haven’t made a game filled with explosions. In fact there’s no combat of any kind, nor is it a puzzle game. The game instead focuses on exploring the disturbing world it puts forth and uncovering its mysteries.
You can pick up the game for PC on Steam Sept. 25 or on PS4 some time next year.
